Going by the monotonous tone, I’m guessing Robert is lecturing him about the uni courses he chose. To appease Robert he took a couple of business classes that he hates, but the rest are associated with the arts. “Yep,” Daz grunts, casting his eye across the valley before us searching for deer. “It’s never a pretty sight when Layne snaps.” “Fact.” Daz takes a quick look back at Layne and Robert and cringes. “Once he’s graduated we won’t see him for dust, I reckon. Probably move out of town and set up a carving business or something.” It kills Robert that Layne walks to the beat of own drum. It doesn’t matter how much he presses the importance of an enduring career in something substantial like politics or finance, Layne still does what Layne wants to do. I know what’s really going on, Daz has dyslexia and the glasses make him look smart. Not that he’s thick, he’s just has problems with reading and writing and his concentration isn’t the best. Loud grunting from a stag down in the bush-covered valley returns Daz’s call, thundering across the summer sky.
