Rene Chapter one The cotton drags along the inside of my cheek, the dry swab scraping up the secrets of my DNA. I make sure to get a good amount before withdrawing it from my mouth and slipping it into a tube filled with a saline solution. In two-three weeks, I will have my lineage opened up in front of me. No more secrets and no more wondering who I am. My life hasn’t been a walk in the park, and I want to confront the man and woman who set me on its path. Being an infant left on a church’s steps meant I was put into a Christian orphanage, Loving Beginnings Orphanage, and even though I was one of the luckier ones to have been adopted fairly quickly, I know how evil that place was.
