CHAPTER 1Samantha Lex wrapped his long arms around me, even in sleep he tried to keep me in his bed. I didn't make a habit of staying a full night in anyone's bed. They might get the wrong idea. It was only about the sex and the release I chased, nothing more, so I slipped out of his warm embrace as the sun barely peeked into the large bay window. Before he stirred, I had my weapons back in place, along with my clothes. So much for his demigod senses. I could have daggered him a few times by now. "If you come back to bed, I'll cook you breakfast," he said, his voice adorably sleep-filled, as he tried to lure me back to bed. I snorted. I was positive he couldn't cook, at least not well. Now if he offered to mix me a drink, I'd believe him. "Lex, you know I don't do the morning after." I glanced at him over my shoulder. Damn, he was sexy as sin. In another life, I would have crawled back to bed with him and happily ate his crappy breakfast that probably consisted of broken eggs and burnt toast. He looked more like a God than a demigod, all sleep ruffled. The day old scruff along his perfect jaw, his smile blinding white as he flashed his teeth at me. His hazel eyes sparkled as he watched me. I shook my head ruefully. No attachments. Even if they were six foot, walking sex on a stick, dark and handsome demigods. Especially if they were all of that. Mortal boys were easier to shake, and I didn't normally give in to Lex like this. I'd had one too many at the club last night. His club. He'd brought me back to his apartment, over said club, to sober up and not get myself killed trying to hunt some demons. In the process of all of that, I convinced him sex was a great idea. Although, he was always down for our one-night stands. Which we should probably call something else since it had happened more than once. Booty call. Friends with benefits. My shirt settled over my stomach as he got up and wrapped his arms around me again. His lips pressed to my neck as he smiled. "You know I'm no strings attached," he said against my skin. "No pressure." He dropped another kiss to my shoulder and brushed past me, tempting me more with his body than he had with the promise of food I knew he couldn't cook. I watched his ass as he disappeared into the bathroom. Shaking myself out of the lingering desire, I grabbed my purse and headed for the door. "See you at the club, Lex," I called to the closed bathroom door as I headed for the exit. I had to get home, anyway. My brother would have a fit if I wasn't home by the time the sun was fully up. He and Raiden would be out looking for me the second I didn't walk through that door. He'd always been overprotective, and his best friend had picked up the habit, too. They both annoyed the shit out of me. Once upon a time, before my powers showed up with a vengeance, I had thought that Raiden was my future. I had been so in love with him as a teen. Not that he even knew I existed, being five years older than me. But that fantasy shattered when my blood revealed me to be the strongest hunter since the original hunter. That meant my existence was going to be spent hunting demons and other evil that went bump in the night. I had still clung to my life, even after my training; my best friend Brook, college, crushes on random mortal boys that knew nothing of my actual personality and only saw the tall, thin, blonde cheerleader with mossy green eyes and not the badass I was. At least my long legs could get me home faster. I was barely out of breath as I climbed the steps to the front porch. The door swung wide before I reached it revealing Raiden, glare on his face as his attention traveled over my body, not sexually, but assessing for injuries the way he always looked at me. "I'm fine," I said, as I pushed past him into the dim house. It was so much easier during the week when I could just go back to my dorm. No one waiting up for me and expecting me home at a certain time. "You're late," he replied as he followed me into the kitchen. "I wasn't aware I had a curfew, Dad," I shot back at him. Yanking the fridge open, I pulled out the orange
