This was something that was customary for all female pups in the Kenyan Pack. They must go live in the Alpha house. This was new to me, and I still did not understand why the Alpha had all the she-wolves living with him when they turned twelve years old. My wife Sheba was being very tight-lipped, and I grew tired of it. “Papa, everything will be okay. I stay with Alpha Kane every week. It’s no big deal,” Shani smiled at me. “Sheba, I dislike this. This…this time feels different. This is not the way things are done,” I grumbled. Shani wrapped her arms around my waist and looked up at me. “It’s fine, Papa. I promise,” she grinned. “Styles, this is the way things are done in this Pack. I know you think the Rayne Pack and your bloodline are superior to others, but they are not. Things are done differently, and you said that once she is of age, most of her raising is up to me. That was our deal,” Sheba sniffed. “Of age! Are you serious right now? She is not of age, Sheba. She is still a child who should not be away that long without her parents. This is…what is wrong with this Pack,” I growled. Sheba raised her head, and I stared into the glowing champagne-colored eyes that hardened like diamonds. “This is how things are done, and I told you this, Styles. She will go because it is expected of MY family since we raised her in this Pack. Shani wants to go. Isn’t that right, Xashania?” Sheba stared me in the eyes, and I could tell she wasn’t about to back down. None of this sat right with me, but the pleading looks in my baby’s eyes weakened my resolve. I sighed and closed my eyes, knowing nothing good could come of this. “Shani can go today, but I will escort her there, and if I see or feel anything I dislike, she will return with me. Then we will leave this Pack with or without you,” I growled. “Papa!” “Go outside, Shani. Now,” I growled. Shani looked between us both before stepping around me and leaving the house. “You believe you can take my child from me? Are you fucking serious?” “You’re goddamn right. I will take Shani away from here if I have no other choice. If I go there and something goes down, I know you were a part of it because why would you send our child there? I am only doing this because Shani wants to go, and she has never told me that she felt like she was in danger when visiting the Alpha’s house. You know my senses Sheba, and you know that I will know if something is off,” I growled. Sheba’s eyes narrowed as she stepped closer to me. “You do not have the right to take my child anywhere. When we mated, and you left the Rayne Pack to live with me, your Mate, you joined the Kenyan Pack.” Her eyes flashed brighter, and her words became a growl. I thought about the meaning of having a Mate and couldn’t understand why Kannuck would give me such a Mate. The only reason I could come to was that it was all for my child, my pup, my daughter. Things are done for a reason, and I strongly sensed that Shani was destined to be something great. I knew it in
