The titans themselves are spaceships the size of planetoids, filled with supplies, guarded by vicious monsters and deadly traps. Warriors and explorers known as Hoppers make trips over to the titans to retrieve the needed supplies. Hoppers are born with one of 7 classes: Paladin - can enhance others, increasing their strength, durability, speed, etc. Corsair - focus their current through a sword to deliver short range attacks. Mage - focus their current through a cannon to deliver long range attacks. Berserker - become stronger the more current they use. Vanguard - adept at defending others and creating shields. Surveyor - scouts, medics, used to disarm traps and discover safe passages through the titans. Mechanist - uses automatons to control battles. Hoppers can learn to focus their current through a variety of talents unique to each class. The 5 Gates of Power exist within all Hoppers and it is only through opening those gates that Hoppers can become strong. Courage Iro was born talentless, yet he always dreamed of being a Hopper. When the titan his fleet is orbiting explodes, killing his Paladin sister, he takes up her broken sword, determined to unlock a talent and follow in her footsteps. 5 years after the death of titan 01, the fleet arrives at a new titan (titan 02). Iro accidentally ends up on the first Hop and manifests a Corsair talent. He is shipped over to live and train on the Eclipse, a Corsair ship. Meanwhile, Courage Emil, a trainee Paladin, is angry that Iro saved his life aboard the titan. He begins training on his own, determined never to need saving again. The Corsair trainees from the Eclipse and Paladin trainees from the Courage begin hopping together, working to open their first Gates of Power. On one such Hop they encounter Hoppers from another fleet orbiting titan 02. Before the encounter can lead to violence a couple of deadly warriors wearing black cloaks appear PROLOGUE Mufar leapt over the charging paragore, spun in midair to avoid its barbed tail, landed into a roll that lost none of his momentum. He couldn’t afford to be slowed down. His armor was scrapped, his spear long gone, his current running low. He sprinted on. The corridor was dark. Flickering lights strobed the metal panels beneath him. The persistent drip and hiss of something far more corrosive than water punctuated the gloom. A howl echoed through the space, bouncing off the bulkheads. They were gaining on him. He had to get to the Spire. The others needed warning. A snarl warned him the paragore was close. He threw himself to the side, hit the wall hard. The paragore snapped at him, its teeth ripping his already tattered cloak, tearing it from his shoulders. Before the beast could recover, Mufar cartwheeled onto its scaly back, rolled, grabbed a protruding spine, and flipped the monster over. He slammed it against the metal floor with such force the panels buckled and bent. Mufar raised his fist, drew on what little current he had remaining, and activated his Crestfallen talent. The corridor lit up with a searing yellow light as his crest filled it, arcane symbols written across the walls, the floor, the ceiling, everywhere. Then the light started retracting, rushing towards him, surging up his legs and concentrating in his fist. His hand shone bright as a fire, blazing as a furnace, radiant as a star. The paragore struggled, tried to right itself. Its tail lashed out, slammed into Mufar’s thigh. He grunted. The last of his crest flowed into his fist and a ball of burning plasma burst to life in his hand. He punched it down into the paragore. It burned through the monster’s armored chest, melted its flesh, cooked it from the inside. Then it detonated in a blinding flash so bright, Mufar had to shield his closed eyes and still the light burned itself into him. He was thrown back against the far wall of the corridor. He
