Chapter one Levi A vampire, a succubus, and a witch in a bar. Who would have ever thought our different species would have to work together on protecting humans, especially with how jaded I’d become over the centuries. I’d seen the worst of humans and it led to me becoming a vampire in the first place. A war, one damn attack on the castle which held the sick and elderly, and my life changed forever. We had no choice but to fight or die, though in the end the fight wasn’t worth it. Every single person on that island was killed, a complete massacre. My sire, along with his clan, changed as many of us as they could, but I was one of only a handful who survived. My brother was lost, yet in those first years after my change, I didn’t care. I remember little from that time other than the tangy taste of blood on my tongue and the intense need for more, always more of the sweet elixir of life after death. I wiped out entire villages while the pangs of hunger tore at my belly, never satisfied. It wasn’t until I found a balance of sex and blood that my needs were finally filled and my mind cleared enough to remember losing my brother.
