I was getting married for the second time. Unlike the first time I intended to marry the guy, there were no warning signs, or red flags. Yet, today deep within my core, I couldn't shake the feeling that I was making the worst mistake of my life. It wasn't my fiancé Braden Sullivan or my best friend Constance Hill, it was me. Braden was an amazing guy and my best friend. We were both doctors around the same age and we had a lot of things in common. Three years had passed, and I still couldn't get Timur Vinogradov out of my mind. How could I be so hung up on a twenty-nine-year-old man? I hadn't even had sex with him. Men who looked like him, charismatic, wealthy, and sexy, should come with a warning sign. Why can’t I get him out of my head? What is wrong with me? I moved from Massachusetts to San Francisco where I didn't know anyone. It was just me and Braden. Nevertheless, there was a crater size hole in my chest where my heart was supposed to be. The guilt of lusting after another man was shocking news and I was consumed with guilt. When I closed my eyes, instead of seeing Braden’s face when I had an orgasm, it was Timur’s. My toes curled as I remembered the sound of his deep voice. The overconfident, bold, and determined jerk knew he was handsome and that I was attracted to him. Ever since that unsuspecting day when I saved his life; I haven't been the same. It had to be insane to fall for a guy when you’re engaged to someone else. When I was younger, I used to read romance novels, which spoke about explosive cataclysmic attraction, and I always thought it was crap until Mila carried Timur into my fiancés home. My world’s been off kilter ever since. My douche bag, ex-fiancé taught me that love doesn’t love anyone. I had put all my trust, love, and affection into him, and he never cared about me at all. After seeing Timur, I couldn’t achieve an orgasm without envisioning him. It was the reason why I caved and said yes, to Braden’s proposal. I needed to live in the real world and not lose myself in my own fantasyland. At the age of forty, I shouldn’t be so enamored with a twenty-nine-year-old man in the Bratva. It was a recipe for disaster, yet I was ready to bake that same old cake. I was gleefully running towards the train wreck. Relocation to the west coast was my final attempt to salvage what was left of my sanity. Braden was a safe bet. He may not be the one, but he made sense. I blew some wisps of hair out of my face. It felt like ages since I stood in front of a mirror and studied myself. I lost track of time, as I stood and mentally lied to myself. Things were getting bad if you didn’t believe your own lies. I had been telling myself that it was time to move on and take chances, but a part of me wasn’t ready to do that. Braden wasn’t abusive, furious at me for petty things, or beat me. Also, he never castrated me or made me feel less than him, like my ex-fiancé. His actions showed that he gave me the utmost respect. What more can a woman ask for? Well toe-curling orgasms. It’s not his fault that he couldn’t make me come. I'd been faking it ever since we were together. I was resigned to the fact that I’d be faking it for the rest of my life. If the trade off for safety is mediocre sex, so be it. Thank God for my wand vibrator. After what I experienced with my former fiancé, what could be worse? He had put my personal safety as well as my life in danger due to his behaviors, and deep betrayal. If I hadn’t worked with the DEA, I would be in jail for crimes I had no knowledge of, nor had I committed. He was a serial killer. After that experience, I’d learned to appreciate my fragility and humanity. Time wasn’t on
