Boss Seduction Grace Parkes Contents Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 5 Chapter 6 Chapter 7 Chapter 8 Chapter 9 Chapter 10 Chapter 11 Chapter 12 Chapter 13 Chapter 14 Chapter 15 Epilogue Thank you for reading! 1 The taxi horn blared, and the sound sliced through the air like a hot blade and sent Olivia jumping, just managing to hold onto her coffee without spilling its contents. She cursed under her breath, not at the taxi driver who was just doing his job to get her to work as soon as he could—she paid him an extra twenty to do so—but rather at herself. It was her fault for getting stuck in morning traffic. Usually, she was out the door by six-thirty and the morning commute to work was one of productivity and calm, instead of the zoo-like frenzy she found herself sitting in. If it wasn’t for the hinge of her kitchen cabinet breaking this morning then she wouldn’t have gotten into the shower five minutes later than she normally would. And if it wasn’t for the loud boom as the same cabinet door fell to pieces on the floor moments later, together with three crystal wine glasses, then she wouldn’t have had to spend an extra fifteen minutes cleaning up the mess until her house once again looked spotless. Everything in Olivia’s life was perfectly planned, perfectly calculated down to the very last T, and breaking cupboards and shattered glass on the floor was as much of an inconvenience as a flood or fire. Another horn blast sounded loudly in the air. This time she bit down her tongue and checked her emails, going over her schedule once again. Eight-fifteen meeting with Ted Marks. Nine o’clock meeting with Sophie Isiah. Nine-forty meeting with Oliver Gris…The list went on, only ending when the sun grazed the tops of the high-rise buildings calling her home although she very seldom listened. “It will take at least another twenty minutes to get out of this mess, miss.” The taxi driver with his curled mustache and deep-set brown eyes turned around and shrugged his shoulders apologetically. “Another twenty minutes?” An irritated growl escaped Olivia’s throat. The man’s eyes widened so that the whites of his eyes showed like a frightened deer running from its predator. “Y-yes, miss,” he stammered. Olivia wasn’t trying to be intimidating, she was just frustrated, blaming herself for being so late, yet there was a tiny part of her that enjoyed seeing the man squirm. It was a man’s world after all and in a man’s world, a woman had to be stronger than a lion to make it to the top. Fortunately, Olivia was as strong as a hundred lionesses. “How far is my building?” He checked his google map and again turned to face her, his lips in a tight line as though he awaited the blow of her scowl. “Less than a mile.” “I’ll walk the rest.” She handed him his cash and a little extra. She may be a bit difficult at times but she was never unfair, and with her iPhone in one hand and her bag with a MacBook in the other, she climbed out of the taxi. The lanes on either side were also filled with yellow taxis standing bumper to bumper, and as she maneuvered between them, trying not to jump every time a car honked or a taxi driver shouted, she hit the street where a throng of men and women walked energetically in the shadows of the buildings. If a giant watched from above, it would be witness to ants gathering around a large banana, thought Olivia and for the shortest moment, a giggle waited on her lips. But then she cursed herself for thinking such childish things. She was a woman now, a very successful, quite attractive, no-nonsense-taking kind of thirty-year-old woman, she didn’t need childish thoughts like those making their way into her mind. Her parents always told her to vacate her mind of all the silly things, to occupy its space with only things of value, books to teach her about life, about business, not the fantasy tales of hobbits and fairy princesses and maiden voyages with female captains ruling the seas. Her parents also always told her that it was wrong to be gay and that she should do what any good daughter would do and suppress those feelings so as not to bring shame onto the family. For many long years, Olivia listened. She kissed boys and felt no spark, she gossiped about them and laughed giddily when a friend decided to set her up with the new quarterback. She did what any good daughter would; she obeyed their rules. But when she was twenty years old, she could no longer ignore her feelings for women. She couldn’t ignore how she felt when she watched their mouths speak, their soft lips, their curvaceous bodies, their plump breasts. She stopped listening to her parents after her first kiss, a kiss she had shared with a girl named Vicky. It opened up a whole new world for her. One where she met women on dating apps and had one-night stands and weekend flings, loved women and broke up with women because they didn’t satisfy her mentally. She loved being herself, her very gay self. And although she no longer visited her parents more than once a year—not bothering to listen to their preachings of eternal damnation—she was never quite able to break out of the mold of perfectionism. Olivia never let her imagination stray, she never sang in the shower or watched silly little rom-com movies. You can only win so much, she thought. And just as her mind again drifted to the sea of ants walking beside her, she felt someone brush past her. “Sorry,” said a man with a dark maroon hoodie and black trousers and a shabby-looking backpack hanging off his shoulders. “Busy street.” Olivia smiled half-heartedly and as
