Amelia Rose-Brier was stunning with her strawberries and cream skin and copper red hair pouring over her small shoulders. She was delicate boned but not thin. She had a curvy body that had evoked more than one night of illicit dreams since Ryan had met her a few weeks ago. “So, you decided to venture out with Miss Genny to pick up a few treats from the Farmer’s Market,” Ryan commented, and Amelia looked at her again, her green eyes the color of jade. Amelia nodded. “I wanted to get some cherries and peaches.” “You know, the best peaches I ever had, came from a small orchard not too far from here. They grow the most delicious cherries and strawberries ever too. They hothouse grow the berries in the winter, but they are still great.” “Really?” Amelia asked and those pretty eyes lit up. “I’ll show you,” Ryan said. “So, how’ve you been? I haven’t seen you in the restaurant for a few days.” Amelia’s face was a mask of surprise now. “I wasn’t feeling well,” she said. “I think I got too much sun.” “Red, you really should wear a hat to cover that pretty skin in summer.” “I know,” she said. “I don’t know what happened. I normally do, but I forgot it. I was out with a couple of the girls from the inn.” Ryan nodded. “So, you’re better now?” Amelia smiled, showing genuine pleasure that someone cared. “Yes. Thank you.” “Good to hear,” Ryan murmured. “Why don’t you just get your fruit from the inn’s kitchen?” “We don’t have a lot of peaches, so I leave them for cooking and for the guests.” “Makes sense,” Ryan commented. “So, cherries? A favorite treat for you?” “I love them, yes. What about you?” “I’ve had my share.” She gave Amelia a wink. “Some are sweet. Some are tart. Which one are you?” Amelia gave her an uncertain look and colored. Ryan chuckled. “Here we are,” she said. “Hey, Ryan,” one of the women at the stand drawled. “Come by for some peaches?” “I believe I might have three or four,” she said. “Amelia, this is Bobbi-Sue. Her family runs Old Brier Farms where this fruit comes from.” “Oh. Hi.” Amelia’s voice was a little cool, but Ryan had come to realize that she wasn’t cold at all, just shy and uncertain. “Hi, Amelia,” Bobbi-Sue replied and then turned an angry gaze on Ryan. “Are you kidding me?” She dropped a hand on her hip, her gray eyes growing stormy. Ryan shrugged. Bobbi-Sue had been trying to get in her pants again for months now. She hadn’t bought Ryan’s no was as simple as she wasn’t into casual sex anymore. Bobby-Sue wasn’t looking for a wife just Miss Right Now. “Right. I knew it wasn’t that simple.” Ryan snorted. “Baby, I say what I mean and mean what I say when it comes to most things.” “Sure, whatever. Amelia, what can I get you, honey?” “Um, a half-pound of cherries, same of strawberries and four peaches.” Bobbi-Sue smiled. “You’ll never buy another peach from the store after you’ve had ours. My daddy knows peaches and cherries.” “I’m looking forward to trying them,” Amelia said. Bobbi-Sue got Amelia’s order packaged, and Amelia paid. “Enjoy, Amelia, and come back, ya hear.” Bobbi-Sue gave her a big smile. “Thanks.” “Amelia. Come over here.” “Thanks, Ryan. Thank you, Bobbi-Sue.” Amelia slipped her bag into the canvas bag on her shoulder. “You know, Amelia, there’s a booth called Nan’s. Check it out. Nan brings some of her best lingerie out here.” She winked. “Ryan will love you in it.” “Yeah, I would,” Ryan agreed giving Amelia a wink, and she colored. “Excuse me,” Amelia mumbled and hurried over to Hope, one of her co-workers from the inn. “Got your peaches all bagged. I can’t believe you’re fooling around with that ice queen. She’s not even your type. I bet she makes you wish she was me,” Bobbi-Sue said keeping her voice low. Ryan grunted and pulled out her wallet. She gave Bobbi-Sue a bill. Keep the change and pick up a clue.” Ryan walked away shaking her head. The woman thought she was the shit, but she could do without her brand of sweetness. Bobbi-Sue couldn’t keep her panties up, when she wore any. She was willing to spread her legs for any woman willing to go down on her. She was also a big fan of menages or multiple partners at once. Not Ryan’s cup of tea. On top of that, Bobbi-Sue preferred women with money to spend on her. She wasn’t all about going broke over a piece of tail that couldn’t keep her legs together. But now Amelia—Her gaze wandered to the retreating form with the gentle swaying hips. Damn she had a great ass. “Ryan Baptist,” Genevieve Honeywell said her name in a chiding tone, and Ryan jerked her gaze from Amelia’s very shapely ass. It was only 9, and the August morning was sunny and H.O.T. Most people arrived at the market as soon as it opened to get a jump on the
