Jesus Christ, it’s going to fall off!” The ambulance bay doors woosh open behind me. I’m instantly annoyed when a hand snags the back of my jacket as I reach for the handle to the break room door.“Are you a doctor? I can’t feel my dick. I CAN’T FEEL MY DICK, MAN! Penis down, Penis down!” The man howls as he jerks his body up on the stretcher, leaning over and fisting my jacket with one meaty paw. The air is thick with desperation as he begs me to fix his problem. He yanks my shoulder forward and I twist around, dislodging a God-knows-how filthy hand off of me. I seek the eyes of the medic while putting my foot on the bottom of the stretcher to give it a push away from me. “Registration clerk is on the other side of the hallway, Rock.” In other words, push this asshole away from me and across the hall. Dick. He’s enjoying this. The patient’s acne-ridden jowls quiver under his sweat-soaked mullet, his shoulders bare under the sheet. He digs between the belts strapped across his body, ripping the sheet over his lap off. The sight that greets me makes my groin spasm in sympathy. The seasoned medic, one of my favorites, lifts an eyebrow, his mouth twisting into a wry grin as he pushes the cart with his screaming and sweating patient forward and to the left, putting my jacket and I out of the patient’s reach. “Better punch in, doc, it’s looking like it’s going to be a normal Friday night.”“I’ll take Full Moon Fridays over work note Wednesdays any day,” I grouse sardonically while shrugging, knowing there is nothing I can do but work through the inevitable state of the next ten hours of my life.“Did you fucking hear me?” the man on the cot interrupts, looking outraged. “Look at my dick! Just look at it! I’m no doctor, but I’m pretty damn sure it ain’t ‘sposed to be this color purple!” His index finger points dramatically at his tiny, albeit angry, little grape ape. I lean over, peering at the injured organ, unable to rein in my surprise.“Is that PVC pipe?” I ask. “What diameter is that?
