EPILOGUE Chapter 1 Savanah When I noticed the line at Cirque snaking all the way up Carnaby Street, I rolled my eyes and puffed. “Why don’t we go somewhere else?” Out on the hunt, acting like hungry tigers ready to pounce, Jacinta and Sienna ogled every attractive man that strutted past. “We’re here now,” Jacinta said, with Sienna nodding in agreement. With more than its fair share of hot guys, that colourful nightclub was the place to be, and being a Saturday night, we were pushing our luck. A-Listers came from everywhere, and whenever Hollywood was in town, they’d jump the queue. As I waited in line, I kept looking over my shoulder, which had become a habit. I’d messed up again, and suddenly Bram, my ex—who made Dusty look like a kitten in comparison—was stalking me. The son of a lord, Bram had ticked all my boxes until I discovered that he was a drug addict who, when chasing his next hit, became a monster. After he’d attacked me one time too many, I escaped. Only in our exclusive scene, it wasn’t easy to hide. Everyone hung out in the same places. As we moved forward, Sienna smiled. “There, you see? The line’s moving along now.” Wearing a green mini and a fluffy pink jacket, she looked cute and stylish at the same time. Jacinta reached into her purse and pulled out her party tin—an antique container with a picture of Cleopatra. She passed me a blue pill, and I shook my head. “Really?” She tipped her head to the side and frowned. “I’m not out for a big night. My mother’s expecting me back at Merivale. I promised to help her with a function.” “You’re not staying the weekend?” Jacinta turned down her mouth. “I thought we were doing lunch at my friend’s new Notting Hill café.” I returned an apologetic smile. “Can’t get out of it, I’m afraid.” We were now about six people away from the front entrance, and after watching so many refused entry, I didn’t like our chances. “We’ll just have to bat our eyelashes at security.” Jacinta smoothed down her long blond hair with her hands. Her dress was so short her knickers were almost noticeable, and the back of her dress dipped to the crack of her bum. “I’m dressed like a nun compared to you two minxes.” I chuckled. “Blue’s your colour, though.” Sienna touched the silky fabric of my Stella McCartney knee-length dress. I looked ahead, and my breath hitched. “Shit. He’s here.” “Who?” Jacinta looked around. “The bouncer at the door.” I slid my eyes towards Carson while he dealt with a man who was stumbling about and rather stupidly poking his finger at Carson. My heart raced. “I want to run away.” Sienna shook her head and frowned. “Who is it?” “Shh… He might hear us.” I leaned in. “That’s Carson.” Of course, she turned to stare. “Wow. He’s a hottie.” “Who?” Jacinta asked. Sienna spoke in a loud whisper. “That’s the hung-like-a-horse guy.” He must have sensed all the attention because he turned, and his eyes fell on my burning face. Although it had been three months since Carson stayed the night at Mayfair, following my being attacked and robbed, I still couldn’t get him out of my head. And then I met Bram, and my life slid into chaos. “Shit, he’s smouldering. He reminds me of Channing Tatum.” Jacinta was right. Carson was the dead ringer of that burly actor. “Now I know why you’ve been pining all these months. Look at those muscles. They’re about to burst out of that polo.” Sienna giggled. While reminding myself to breathe, I tried pushing aside Carson’s rejection, which had shaken my self-confidence. And whereas once I might have cracked the odd joke with him, now I felt awkward and tongue-tied around him. “He’s not interested anyway,” I said. “Maybe my tits aren’t big enough.” Jacinta rolled her eyes. “Nonsense.” “Maybe he’s gay.” Sienna frowned. “Didn’t you say he had a boner?” I reflected on my failed attempt to seduce Carson and nodded. “Gay men do not bar up over girls fondling their dicks. Trust me. I know.” Sienna pulled a smirk. She would know. Sienna kept falling for unattainable men. When we arrived at the front of the line, I came face-to-face with Carson. “Hey.” My easy-going vibe hid a sudden rush of nerves as I locked my wobbly knees. “Didn’t know
