I’m surprised that they haven’t done so yet.” Ava shoots me an apologetic look from where she’s sitting on the other side of the bed, then she scoots closer and slings her arm around my shoulders, bending her head to mine as she whispers, “Don’t worry. My other mom is the more reasonable one.” As if she heard her daughter’s comment, another female voice filters in through the closed door. “It’s not indefinite, Clara.
