Forgotten Solider Preview Also By Jenna Gunn ABOUT HIS IRISH CAPTIVE She was promised to me. I traded my freedom for hers. Now it's time to claim what's mine and slice the head off of the Coghlan family crime empire. I've watched Carra from afar, wanting, waiting. Guarding her life with mine. Wanting to protect her from the evil inside her own home. But I could only have a taste of her. Not forever. Then one night, the Irish Mob Boss made me an offer I couldn't refuse. Go down for a crime I didn't commit in exchange for power, money, and his daughter's hand. The hand of a woman that had already given me her first time. Now I have a chance to claim her and behead the Coghlan empire. But she's not willing. And I'm not above stealing her from her father's estate. I won't stop until justice is served and I have what I want. For this, I'll do anything, endure anything. Even the heartbreak of finding out she kept our child a secret. But when my work is done, will there be anything left for us? Or will the lies and destruction destroy the only good thing I've ever known? ◆◆◆◆More About This Book ◆◆◆◆ This book is a cliffhanger and concludes in Her Captor’s Secret Heir! Kieran and Carra's story will be complete in the second book. Can you take the angst? I dare you to feel the heat and hang on by he edge of your seat. This duet is inspired by the Bearskin fable and is a steamy second chance, secret baby, dark mafia romance book. Full of heat and angst from page one, you'll root hard for this unforgettable couple. This book is continued in the next book. This is a steamy romance and includes descriptive open-door heated scenes and dark subjects. This book is part of a series of retellings, the Fabled Mafia Wars collection with the Bleeding Souls Saved by Love author group. No cheating. Written in first person, dual point of view. CHAPTER ONE When my adopted sister, Caroline, turned eighteen, I threw her a rager. The cops came twice and half the guests went to jail for fighting. Rory was there that night, and right now his face says it all. When he glances toward me from his station across the room, I know he’s thinking the same thing that I am. Could this get any more lame? The jazz trio in the corner doesn’t belong at an eighteen-year-old’s birthday. This party isn’t for the guest of honor. Patrick Coghlan is a self-serving, greedy idiot. A fact ninety percent of the people in the room probably think, but would never admit. A grand opening for a Bentley Dealership would be more exciting. This is nothing but a bunch of stick-up-the-ass old people milling around pretending to like one another. I suppress my annoyance at the situation and scan the room again, systematically, but not predictably. I don’t want anyone to see a pattern that could create a vulnerability. Staying unpredictable in my business saves lives. To my left is a knotted group with a dozen men. Voices low, the Irish Mob’s most powerful men work their angles to fatten already bursting pockets. To my right are the wives, gathered in twos and threes, clusters of shiny cocktail dresses that run short and tight. In the middle is the guest of honor, Carra. My primary security responsibility. Clutched in her hand is a full glass of champagne. Golden and sparkling, but untouched by her lips. Her expression is tight. In her eyes, there’s a resigned look that I’ve seen her wear all too often. Shifting her weight from one high heel shoe to another, she watches her older twin sisters talk to the bartender. Carra’s nothing like them. Especially tonight. The other two are like peacocks in bright displays of cleavage and color. The dress the birthday girl is wearing isn’t a party dress for a woman that’s coming of age. If it weren’t for the thin straps crossing over her porcelain shoulders, you’d swear she was dressed for a funeral. She’s done a fine job of looking dour. Which is fine by me. I like knowing she’s not like the others. Carra’s choice in
