I started somewhere new, giving Reese and myself a clean slate. I found a job I loved and met three guys who made me feel alive. I should’ve been prepared for life to smack me upside the head again, but in my defense, I’d been a little distracted by my hot roommates and trying to win games. My life had become a mess, and I didn’t know where to start. Everyone wanted something from me, and it was hard to know whom to trust. The one thing I thought I could count on was hockey, but it no longer felt safe—not after the secrets and lies I’d uncovered. The pressure was suffocating, and I knew I had to make a choice soon and pray it wasn’t wrong… or someone might end up dead. Hockey was meant to be only a game, but this time, it looked like we were playing for keeps. This is book 2 in the series. Penalty Box must be read first. This book does end on a cliffhanger. Foreword This is a contemporary why-choose hockey romance intended for 18+ due to language and content. This book deals with some themes that might be difficult to read. I always try to do my best to handle things with care for my characters and the reader. But please make sure to take care of yourself first. SOME THINGS TO CONSIDER ARE THE FOLLOWING: Family member dies from cancer Feelings of not being good enough/self doubt Past drug use Mild bullying of non-binary character by peers Violation of consent (shared videos) Mild mental/psychological abuse Keeping things from others Mild violence (outside of harem) Use of they/them pronouns for NB character THEMES AND/OR TROPES TO EXPECT Double penetration Anal Penetration Group Scene Praise Dirty Talk Voyeurism /Exhibitionism Explicit sex scenes Foul language Found Family HOCKEY This book attempts to portray hockey in its truest form, but the author has taken some liberties to make things fit within the world of the book for the story. So for any hockey purest, be kind; it was done purposefully to tell a story. This book highlights women in sports and the inequality many face. I could go on all day about this, but since you probably want to read this book and not listen to my soapbox, turn the page to continue Henley’s story. Introduction Deadlift: noun a direct lifting without any mechanical assistance. a situation that requires all one's strength or ingenuity. This book is dedicated to the power of female friendships. Together we can rise up. CHAPTER ONE Fletcher My hands rubbed up and down my legs as I watched Henley’s game on TV. I hated that I couldn’t be there, but at least I got to watch it before my game. The school they played against had its own broadcasting program and televised the sports teams as practice. It wasn’t the most sophisticated setup, but it was better than nothing. Henley looked so fierce from the box that it was hard to take my eyes off her and watch the game. The door to the garage opened, and I smiled as Dax entered the room. “Hey, dude. How’s the game going?” he asked, taking a drink from his Hydro Flask. His face was sweaty, and his shirt clung to him; I expected he’d rushed home to watch the game without showering. “It’s almost the end of the second period. Henley’s looking great.” We both watched the last few seconds before the buzzer sounded, and the team headed off the ice. I peered at Dax out of the corner of my eye. “It’s great that you rushed over here, man, but if you try to sit on this couch before you shower, I will tackle you to the ground and sic Lady Sterling on you.” Dax rolled his eyes, chuckling. “I’m going. No need to resort to violence.” He practically ran to his room to shower. An excited Dax was new, but I’d welcome it any day. Turning my attention back to the game, I watched as the kids returned with Henley and Reed, Kurt nowhere to be found. When Henley exited off the ice, I grabbed my phone and sent a message, not liking that she was about to be alone with Kurt. The clock counted down, my anxiety growing each second that she didn’t reappear. Kurt returned to the ice with a minute to spare, and I couldn’t ignore the smug expression on his face. Reed approached him, shaking his
