A rich, stupidly handsome concierge doctor, He thinks he’s got the world at his fingertips. And those fingertips may have just gotten him in a world of trouble, When a wealthy patient accuses him of inappropriate behavior. He comes to me begging for my help, swearing up and down that he never touched her, And despite the horrible first impression he made, I believe him. Long days at work and late night meetings make it hard to keep disliking him. Ford is actually a good guy, charming, kind, and hot as hell. Soon, I’m about to face a professional dilemma of my own, ‘Cuz now I’m carrying my client’s baby! CHAPTER 1 HOLLY Winning was basically my favorite thing. Victory was even sweeter when I got to destroy the greedy opposition. The jury came back with a verdict that restored Jade’s rights to her own music, songs she’d written with melodies she’d composed herself—rights that her nasty ex-manager had claimed were his own. The smarmy bastard profited off richly off the work of a nineteen-year-old girl and told the media she was a fake, that he had been the talent all along and she was just—try not to gag because it’s a direct quote— ‘the pretty face and nice tits for the videos’. It may have taken four months of late nights and combing through thousands of text messages and emails, but I had won the day for Jade Rush, and I'd seen justice done. She sobbed when the verdict was read, even before they listed the financial damages she was awarded. I had patted her shoulder and offered her some tissues. I was thrilled by the results of all those months of hard work, and I was the furthest thing from weeping. My shoulders were back and my head held high. That surge of confidence and the feeling of power that came from turning righteous indignation into true justice—those were the closest thing to a drug for me After I marshaled Jade through a brief press conference on the courthouse steps and into her waiting car, I emailed my boss at the law firm. This very public victory was bound to help me in my quest to become the youngest partner at the firm, and I made sure to send a message that reflected both facts of the verdict and the overwhelming gratitude of my celebrity client. Excuse me, our client. Then I called my best friend. “Suze, it’s me. We won!” I crowed. “I knew you would,” she said, “let’s celebrate tonight. My last session is at four-thirty.” “I’m off at five. This calls for champagne, for sure. Why don’t we meet at—oh crap, I’m getting a call from my office. Let me call you back,” I said, switching calls. “Hi Rena, what’s up?” I said to my assistant, “I’m still in the courthouse parking lot.” “Well, you need to be in this parking lot ASAP. The partners are impatient. There’s some big new client here and they want you to meet with him on the spot.” “Okay, great,” I said, more cheerfully than I felt. I would’ve liked a minute to bask in my victory before I had to rush back to the office without so much as a celebratory iced coffee. “Did they have an appointment?” “Not on my books. I had you down for court most of the day.” “Right. So total VIP, I’m guessing?” I said. “Some hot-shot doctor,” she replied, “I excused myself to your office to call you. Roger just offered him a drink of the good stuff he got in Edinburgh last year.” “It’s two in the afternoon!” I said. “And I thought he kept that all to himself. This guy must be a big deal.” “Yeah, not exactly your type?” “That’s what I’m thinking, but if the partners want me to meet with him, I’ll be there as fast as I can get across town. Thanks for the heads up,” I said and hung up. As I drove through the swarm of traffic to the office, I wondered why I was getting a doctor dumped in my lap. I realize as a lawyer I didn’t always get to pick and choose clients based on my preference, but in my experience, doctors weren’t usually being treated unfairly. I made it across town in record time and slid into a parking space. I coveted the partners’ covered parking in the back. The leather seats in
