Facebook author group: Sam’s Hall of Heroines Facebook page here Newsletter sign up here Instagram here Book Bub here Tiktok here AUTHOR NOTE This book is written in Australian English, which is a weird lovechild of British and American English. We tend to spell things the way the Brits do (expect a lot more u’s), yet also use American slang and swear more than both combined. While many people have gone over this book, trying to find all the typos and other mistakes, they just keep on popping up like bloody rabbits. If you spot one, don’t report it to Amazon, drop me an email at the below address so I can fix the issue. [email protected] BEFORE YOU READ THIS BOOK The thing that’s been made clear to me in the last few releases is the problems that arise when reader expectations aren’t met, so let me make this super clear. If you are hoping to find another book like the Wolfverse series, with a pack of super loving, obsessive guys, this book ain’t it. Frankly, in the first half of this book the guys are unmitigated arseholes. Some readers love that, some don’t. If you want guys that are respectful of a girl’s boundaries and always seek consent, this ain’t your book. Don’t read it. The hard thing also is with true bully/enemies to lovers fans, this book may be too tame for you! Anyhoo, here are some triggers: Abusive father, though he’s not on the page often Controlling, manipulative arsehole behaviour by male leads Some coercion Bullying behaviour by male leads and antagonist Attempted kidnapping of a side character FMC has a history of growing up in a home with domestic violence, though this is not discussed in much detail Fairly dystopian small town in terms of their attitudes towards omegas If this is really not your bag, fear not! Your regularly scheduled Wolfverse books are still coming. CONTENTS Stalk me! Acknowledgments 1 The final year of high school is always a tough one and I just had to get to the end of it. I needed to get good enough grades so I’d get into the course of my choice at university. I needed to Rudyard Kipling this shit – keeping my head as everyone else lost theirs – because I’d already seen friends drop out from a range of things: stress, a teen pregnancy or just from an overwhelming sense of uselessness. But that wasn’t going to be me. I was determined to get out of this town, especially to leave behind any connections with my deadbeat dad. As Jimmy York’s daughter, if my school did that American year book thing, I’m pretty sure my peers would’ve been voted me ‘girl most likely to get addicted to meth’. But I wasn’t going to be that girl. Mum had finally left Dad two years ago, which had meant my exposure to illicit drugs had gone down to 0% or thereabouts. She was doing well, I was doing well, and I was ready to move on with my life and make a success of it. Then, she’d started dating Adam. He was a good man, a widower, and the last of the Murphy pack. His brothers and his mate had all died in a house fire many years ago. As an alpha, people had always assumed he would stay single for life but, at some point, his visits to Mum’s bakery every morning had turned into a date, then a lot of dates and now… she’d married him. “Oh my god, bitch!” I was shoved into the lockers by a blur of black and white, the perpetrator revealing herself with a clown-like grin. Heavy black eyeliner? Check. Pale complexion enhanced by industrial strength white foundation? Check. Wild mop of dyed back hair? Check again. It was Finn. I pushed my best friend off me and then made a show of dusting myself down. “You’re going home to the Murphy brothers’ house tonight.” She jumped up and down like the kind of scary demon child you see in those old slasher films. “OMG, they’re so fucking hot.” And they were. Really, really fucking hot. One of the three alpha packs in town, though not the ruling one. Adam wasn’t really the sort to push himself forward unless he needed to and, with those boys for sons, he didn’t have time to. The Murphys were the bad boys of Gainsborough. They weren’t crackheads, not like Dad and his mates. They were the sort of boys who only came to school sometimes, created hell all of the time, and were the source of most
