Chapter 23 24. Chapter 24 Epilogue About Author Chapter 1 Emma I was beyond done with this shit. I stormed into the bar where my current boyfriend was. My boyfriend that swore he was visiting his sick mother, which was why he was going to miss our date tonight. I was understanding and had even offered to go with him to visit his mother, but he said he would be fine. That his mother wouldn’t be happy if the first time I was meeting her she wasn’t at her best. I understood that and told him to let me know how she was doing. So, imagine my surprise to get a text from one of my friends that he was at a bar making out with some girl. I didn’t deserve this. I was a good woman, a good girlfriend to him. We had been together for six months and we haven’t had any problems. I never had any indication that he was cheating on me. I felt like a fool, but I knew I had no right to feel this way. He was in the wrong, not me, and I didn’t deserve to feel like I had done something wrong or anything to be embarrassed about. The second I walked into the bar, I was scanning the room looking for the cheating bastard. Of course, I found him at the pool table helping some bimbo with lining up a shot. God, could he get any more cliche? I pushed past the people within the crowd and made my way towards the cheating bastard. “You want to have soft hands and let it run smoothly through your fingers,” I heard him say and I couldn’t help but roll my eyes. Like the girl didn’t understand the basic concept of pool. “The stick is so big,” she flirted, and I almost threw up a little in my mouth. “Trust me, it’s not big at all,” I said, as I came up beside them. Matt was instantly snapping back and away from, well, let’s call her Barbie. Long blonde hair, big boobs that looked fake, and a blank look within her eyes. Seriously, there was nothing going on in that brain of hers. “Emma,” Matt said, completely shocked, but I could see the smoke coming out of his ears as his brain tried to figure out how to lie his way out of this. “This must be your sick mother,” I said, looking over at Barbie. “Sick mother? Baby, what is she talking about?” Barbie asked, unable to read the situation. “It’s nothing,” Matt instantly denied. “I wouldn’t say telling me you were going to visit your sick mother is nothing. Is she new or have you been screwing around on me for the entire six months we’ve been dating?” I demanded. “Dating? No, that can’t be. Matt and I are dating. We’ve been dating for two months now.” “Wow,” I said to Matt. “We’re done.” I continued before I turned my attention to Barbie, who I almost pitied. “He’s a dog. Do yourself a favor and go find a man that will treat you as you deserve.” “Emma,” Matt started, but I didn’t want to hear it. “Go fuck yourself,” I said as I gave him my back and headed out. Matt was clearly not the man that he had portrayed himself to be, and I was not going to waste any effort or tears on him. He didn’t deserve it. I headed out of the bar and headed back to my car. I needed a drink, and I wasn’t about to do that here. I headed off for the one place where I could have company that understood what I was going through. I knocked on the door of my best friend’s house. Hailey had been a lifesaver on more than one occasion. I had met Hailey three years ago when I started to work for her older brother, Luke Scott. I had always loved children and when the opportunity came up for me to be a live-in nanny for the billionaire, I took the chance to apply for the job. I didn’t expect to get it. There had been others far more qualified and experienced than I was, but Danny and I had hit it off right away, more so than the others. She was an amazing little girl who was five now. I have been in her life since she was two and I couldn’t imagine not seeing her every day. Luke on the other hand, I could do without seeing, but unfortunately, he was my boss; I was living on his property rent free, so seeing him came with the territory. He was cold and in a shitty mood most of the time. I didn’t hold it against him; he’d been through something traumatic and I know that can change people. Still though, it made working for him difficult when we could barely be in the same room as each other without one of us wanting to kill the other. We never fought in front
