He couldn’t believe it. It finally happened, and he just couldn’t believe it. They all knew that they’d been given an amazing gift that wouldn’t last forever, couldn’t last forever. But this seemed too soon. Everything was going to be different by the time he got home. Everything. Who would have ever believed that Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa would leave the big house? Great-Grandma always did have a sense of humor. He stared out the window of the wooden hut and frowned. The children playing in the village were dirty, hungry, and most of them sick. They didn’t even seem to mind. Or maybe it was because it was all they knew. Jak looked back down at the message. He knew that had RP not been in play when his own father was a boy, he wouldn’t exist. Keith Robicheaux had been bought by a pedophile and brought to his home in a remote area of Maryland.
