If you have not read the first six, stop. Do not pass Go. Grab book one: Savage Vandal, and start there. Seriously. This is a series that really must be read in order. Okay, back to my welcome. Merciless Spy picks up a short while after where we left off in Dangerous Renegade. Need a snapshot? Pour yourself a drink, grab a seat, and let’s get caught up. Last time in the 82nd Street Vandals: Emersyn and Rome were kidnapped by new players seeking leverage on Liam’s mysterious king. While Brixton, the man they have contact with, explains that they will do what he wants, Rome plays the part of Liam to cover that they took the wrong twin. They also put a shock collar on Emersyn to keep “Liam” in line. In the meanwhile, the Vandals work to locate and get them back. When Rome is forced to fight as “Liam” and his ring persona “Renegade,” he does well until he’s forced to throw a match and lose because there is a gun pressed to Emersyn’s head. After Rome takes the beating without fighting back, Emersyn stabs the guy who put the gun on her. While she isn’t punished directly, at the next fight, she is handcuffed. Adam and Ezra join in the effort to retrieve them. Liam and Rome swap places in the locker room allowing Rome to slip out with the others. Adam takes the initiative to trade himself for Emersyn. The enemies of the king may prove their allies. He wants more information and he also wants Emersyn out of the middle of this. Reunited with the Vandals, Emersyn and Rome are thrilled to be home. As always there are other troubles, but Freddie welcomes Em home with a first kiss. Though Jasper is still healing from his gunshot wounds, the guys throw a surprise birthday party for Emersyn at Lainey’s prompting and the whole of the clubhouse undergoes renovations to repair it from the damage of the fire fight in Brutal Fighter, but also to arrange a new set of “living quarters” with the guys “rooms” tucked into a new suite with Emersyn’s. Rome and Emersyn also do some body painting with their work on decorating. Emersyn and Liam also hit the sheets after Rome smacks his brother upside the head to tell him it is okay to want her. Doc continues to work with Emersyn on her physical therapy and
