You have a bedroom for that,” I scoffed as I stormed into our small apartment and slammed the door shut. My roommate and best friend, Harper, was straddling her shirtless boyfriend on the couch, cheeks flushed, and hair mussed. “You weren’t supposed to be here for another hour,” Harper admitted as she moved off Jacob’s lap and plopped onto the cushion, trying to flatten her auburn hair back into place. I tossed my keys onto the tiny table by the door and dropped my bag on the floor with a thud before heading to the kitchen. I had a foul taste in my mouth and needed a drink. My day had just turned to shit, and the last thing I wanted to see was my friend getting down with her boyfriend in our living room. Jacob rose from the couch with a look of unease at my obvious crap mood, pulled on his t-shirt, and bent down to kiss Harper. “See ya later, babe,” he said before turning to me on his way out. “Nice seeing you, as always, Mila.” “Call me,” Harper called out as he left.
