BOOK DESCRIPTION RUN FOR YOUR MIDLIFE Lately, my life has been a big, fat, hairy midlife crisis. I could really go for a boring day or three. Apparently, there’s no rest for the over-forty crowd. Yes, I have fabulous friends. Yes, I have a beautiful baby. Yes, the ghosts are coming back home. Yes, I’m in love with the Grim Reaper. However, that sexy Demon has got some major ’splainin’ to do…like his possible involvement in the shocking kidnapping of my worst and most deadly enemy. With a drag queen and an ice queen as my back up, we’re going to sashay away into the Darkness to find the truth and turn a wrong into a right. Although, I’m learning fast that black and white are often clouded with of shades of gray. Whatever. I’m putting on my rose colored glasses and going for it. I plan to live midlife in peace… not pieces. Good luck to me. CHAPTER ONE I turned and looked. In the midst of being frightened out of my mind, I laughed. Yes, my worst and most dangerous enemy was here in ghostly form and decomposing in my front yard, but on the porch stood the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse in all their drag queen glory. They were clad in skimpy bathing suits. Their eyes were deep black pools, and their horns were out. Of course, their makeup was perfect and their stilettos matched their suits. They were terrifyingly gorgeous, and I was happy they were on my team. Candy Vargo aka Karma stood to their left with the beloved ghost of my gram hovering next to her. Tory—the wild card, who I liked even though she didn’t seem to want my friendship—stood by Gram to make sure she didn’t flicker away. “Is that a ghost?” Zadkiel bellowed with rage. What was left of his decaying body trembled with fury. “No ghosts are allowed here.” Before I could answer, the monster flew like a bullet out of a gun toward Gram. Candy Vargo blasted him with an explosion that should have turned him to ash. It didn’t. However, the house didn’t survive. The four queens and Tory surrounded Gram to protect her, but it wasn’t looking good. I moved without a thought. I moved at the speed of light. I moved to stop the monster from harming another person who I loved. He’d already hurt me enough. It was shocking that even dead he could wreak such destruction. Tackling Zadkiel to the ground and holding him tight, I felt myself fall. Gideon, the love of my Immortal life, tried to stop the natural progression of what was happening. His roar sounded far away, but his voice was a touchstone to reality that was quickly disappearing. I’d already set the action in motion, and there was no way to stop it. Actions always had consequences. Reality would have to wait for me. I’d just accidentally mind dived into my despicable archenemy. * * * The cold. The cold went all the way to my bones and tore through my body like sharp, frozen daggers made of ice. Trying to catch my breath, I gasped for air and screamed. The only sound that left my lips came from so far away I could barely hear it. My head pounded violently, and every single cell in my body screamed for oxygen. I knew exactly what was happening, and it wasn’t good. I’d entered Zadkiel’s mind. Never in a million years would
