Everything was still closed down, it was just after four a.m. I knew he was upset about leaving Nathan behind, but we had to get out of there before anything blew. We had a baby to protect and that was more important than any building. Nathan was doing what he could to stop the explosion, and either he'd manage and save himself and the building, or… I stopped that thought right there. I didn't want to think about Nathan dying, even if he was prepared for that outcome. "Come on, we need to get out of here," I said, tugging Brandon's hand. "To where? There's nowhere for us to go, and you're supposed to go meet up with Mason in less than an hour—" "I know that!" I huffed; it wasn't as if I could forget. "We need a car." And I needed a gun, because as much as I would love to kill Mason with my bare hands, I knew there was no way I could get close enough to him to do it. Just the thought of seeing him had my stomach rolling and the baby fidgeting in my belly. "I know you said don't call the police, Katie, but I am responsible for the people who work here, I don't want anyone showing up and—" I turned to him once we were out of the building.
