Tristan Epilogue Coming Soon Also by Samantha Lind Acknowledgments About the Author CHAPTER 1 TRISTAN The shrill of my phone’s ringer wakes me from a dead sleep. “Fucking hell, who’s calling me at this hour?” I mutter to myself as I roll over, looking for the device. I roll directly into a warm and naked body. Memories from the night come flooding back to me. Just hours ago, I had a chick riding my face while another was riding my cock. The constant ringing forces me from my bed. I stumble across my bedroom, searching for the obnoxiously loud device, finally finding it beneath the edge of my dresser. “Hello,” I groggily say into the phone. “Tristan, where are you? I need help, man,” my best friend, Jackson, says. I slide a hand across my face; the amount of tequila I drank last night is not helping me much now. “I’m at home. What’s up?” “It’s Kendra,” he says, and my hackles instantly go up. Kendra is his little sister. I had to remind myself many times when we were teenagers that she was his little sister and not some chick I could lust after or fuck in the locker room at school. “What about Kendra?” I bite out as bile from all the alcohol last night burns the back of my throat. “She needs help, and I don’t know what to do,” he cries into the phone. “What about Kendra? What happened?” I repeat. My words are more biting than before. “I don’t know yet; she’s being checked out by a doctor now. He really did a number on her. I’m going to fucking kill him,” Jackson trails off. “Doctor?” I question. “I’ll kill the motherfucker that touched her,” I seethe. “He did a number on her,” Jackson’s voice cracks again. “We need to get her away from him once and for all.” “She can come here,” I tell him. “Are you sure?” he asks. “She’s going to need some help; can you give her that?” “I can get whatever help she might need.” “It’s bad, Tristan.” I can hear the desperation in his voice. “I’ll try to be there by the end of the day. What hospital are you at?” I ask, already making a mental note of what I must do to fly home and bring back my best friend’s little sister. “We’re at Mass General; I’ll text you if she’s discharged before you arrive.” “Sounds good. I’ll text you my flight info once I can get something booked.” “Thanks, man. I appreciate it.” He sounds slightly relieved, which makes me feel better. “Of course, you know I love Kendra like a sister. I’d do anything for her,” I say, reminding myself more than him that I need to think of her as my sister, not a woman who can warm my bed. “I gotta go; a nurse is flagging me down.” “Text me an update on her condition,” I tell him before the line goes dead. I blow out a deep breath and close my eyes. I say a little prayer that Kendra is okay, or, at least, she will be. She’s been dating the asshole of all assholes for the last four years. One that I’d like to introduce to my fist a few hundred times over. Let him know what it’s like to go up against someone his own size, not a woman half that. Guys that hit women are the lowest of scum in my book. Jackson has tried to convince Kendra to leave Chad, but she’s never stayed away. He’s always slimed his way back into her good graces, only to fuck up again within a few months. Hopefully, if she agrees to come back to California with me, it will give her the distance she needs to leave him in her past where he belongs. I turn back toward my bed, finding one of the chicks sitting up and looking at me like I’m crazy for being up and on the phone at this hour. “Come back to bed; let me suck on that cock again,” she says, trying to be sexy. “Sorry, sweetheart, I’ve got to go, so that means you’ve got to go,” I tell her, my voice stern. “Your friend, as well,” I add, nodding toward the other sleeping form in my bed. She obviously doesn’t like my brush-off, if the frown is telling. “But I’m ready for another round,” she says, spreading her legs, trying to entice me with her naked body. “I said it was time to go,” I practically growl. “I
