ABOUT THIS BOOK Ray Hudson knows the innocent angel who has just stepped onto his sailboat is too good for his son—and for himself, for that matter. But when Jenna Lowe asks him for a lift to the Bahamas, he can’t say no. Then a storm blows them off course, and she fears for her life… So, suddenly she’s in front of the retired Navy SEAL, clinging to him and demanding a kiss. Her first kiss, she tells him. He can’t say no to his innocent angel. But once he has a taste, he has to admit, he’s never letting her go. He wants to be every one of her firsts—and her only, forever. CHAPTER 1 RAY “Excuse me? Hello?” The sweet, light voice grabs my attention, but I can’t go up on deck and meet whoever is looking for me. I’ve just returned from a provisioning run for my boat and I’m mid freezer re-organization, so I’m barricaded in by boxes of food. She’ll have to come down here. I lift my voice and project it with all of my military training. “In the galley,” I yell. “Come on down.” Then I shove the frozen vegetables bin back on its designated shelf. Life on a boat is about everything having its place and only bringing the essentials on board. Nothing that doesn’t belong. My small freezer has one bin for vegetables and another for meat—although I mostly eat fish I catch myself, it’s good to have backup options for bad weather. And the last bin, the most important, is the frozen treats. I’ve just put that into place when a sweet scent wafts in on a breeze and an angel descends the stairs. This young woman definitely does not belong on the boat of a forty-eight-year-old former Navy SEAL. She’s wearing a sundress and flip-flops, and a bit of makeup. Lip gloss on her wide, lush mouth. Maybe some mascara on her lashes, framing her bright green eyes. But the spray of freckles across her cheeks pop just as they did in the photo my son sent a few months ago. My new girlfriend, Dad. Can’t wait for you to meet her. I’ve committed that photo to memory. The same strawberry-blonde waves tumbling free around her shoulders as she has now. That same wide smile, a little more confident in the photo. No makeup then. The boldest gaze I’ve ever seen on a young woman. Utterly captivating. When he sent me the photo to “introduce” me to his new girlfriend, I’d felt…hollowed out. Confused and frustrated, knowing instinctively that my son wouldn’t be good enough for her, and knowing there was no way I could do anything about that. I’m a stranger to her. Probably the bad guy in all of Brantley’s stories. The scary man who got his mother pregnant the night before shipping out. I didn’t even know I had a kid until he was three, and then I was the terrifying man in a uniform who would come and play catch with him once in a while. And now she’s on my boat. “Hi,” she says softly, because I haven’t said a word. I’m staring at her like she doesn’t belong here, which is—fucked up. Of course she does. She’s my son’s girlfriend. “You’re Jenna,” I manage to grind out. “Ray. Nice to meet you.” She exhales in visible relief. “You were expecting me, then. That’s good.” I frown. “Expecting you?” She winces, her expressive face crumpling. “Didn’t Brantley text you?” Fuck, he probably did. “I don’t know where my phone is, truth be told.” I gesture at the provisioning boxes. “I’ve been restocking.” She blows out her cheeks and nods. “Right. Your big fishing trip to the Bahamas. That’s why I’m here, actually.” Those same cheeks turn pink as she chews on her bottom lip. To my horror, my brain focuses in on that lush, soft flesh caught between her neat little teeth. I picture myself closing the distance between us and using my thumb to ease her lip out from between her teeth. Rubbing it gently, then bending over and soothing the offended flesh with a slow lick. Bringing our mouths fully together and— Fuck. Good thing I’m still behind a stack of boxes, because my cock just stiffened to a heavy, thick chub in my board shorts. And she’s my son’s fucking girlfriend. Also, she’s talking again. Focus, Ray. For fuck’s sake. “…so they’re in Bimini for the weekend, and I have to fly back to California on Tuesday, so if we’re going to spend any time together…he was wondering if you could drop me off on the way.” She twists her arms in front of her body, worrying her hands together. Shifting and pulling at her dress, so the soft cotton fabric rides up her thighs. Soft, pale, bare thighs. This uncertain little girl makes me think about the worst fucking things. The absolute worst, best things. Like how soft those thighs would feel against my cheeks as I— “Is it out of your way?” One small mercy—she has no idea how indecent my thoughts about her are. I shake my head. “I’m sorry. Can you start over again? Or—” I glance around. She follows my gaze. We both catch sight of my phone at the same time, and she smiles. “Are you looking for this?” She grabs it and comes closer. Her sweet
