But I'm not as messy as they assume I am…or at least I think so. My name is Calamity, and I'm to bring death and destruction. This makes me seem feared and revered, but I feel the exact opposite of that. Nobody fears me. Nobody respects me. Nobody obeys me. My words are null and void, and my life is controlled. I'm told what to do, what to wear, what to eat, how to look, and how to behave. But this should not be so if I am born to be such a powerful goddess. I hear whispers as I walk and draw closer to the joint halls with the golden designs. I stop once I am within earshot, craning to listen to what they're saying. "Do you think that would work? You know how moody she usually is. I don't think she'll like this situation at all. Do you remember the last time? She caused such a scene! I don't want to be a part of this at all. It's wrong, Harley." I recognize the voice. It is one of Harley’s lackeys—the one I stabbed with a scabbing knife after the last prank they did. I'm unsure of what they're planning now. And that makes me a little worried. My sister is fond of bullying or doing something awful to me. Harley finds every opportunity to annoy me. I never retaliate because I love her as my family, but I take out my revenge against her minions. But against her, there's little that I can do. I don't deserve what she does to me at all. "Oh, please, Miranda," my younger sister cuts in. "It's nothing like that. It's just a little prank. Calamity can deal with that. Since we started pranking her, she's never said anything to us. She'll be fine! Come on! We'll have so much fun with her, my dear little middle sister, Calamity!". I take a step back, knocking a vase over. But I don't stop to see if the golden flower vase is destroyed. Instead, fearful of their plans against me, I run in a different direction, cutting the corner and stumbling through the door of the open control room. I get up immediately, dusting off my robes. There's a dull ache in my elbow, but it heals instantly. At least I'm safe and far away from my sister, away from the bullying, for now. I once found a Medusa serpent in my hair. It was thanks to Harley. Another time, my room had been filled to the brim with Xypha ants. The Xypha ants suck away the spiritual powers of divine beings. I did not recover easily. As I wander the room, something catches my eye. It's the floating image of a planet I've never noticed before. I walk over to the screen to examine it closely. It's mostly blue and green and filled with scattered clouds. "Control, what planet is this?" I ask. "Earth, my Lady." As I continued searching, my curiosity was piqued as I zoomed in. Finally, Earth has what I seek. Watching from a distance, I witnessed love, joy, and relationships. The beauty of these things makes me shudder. "And humans live on this Earth?" I ask the control again. "Yes, My Lady. And they live with free will, carefree about life's problems, no matter how hard it hits," The Control replies. I must visit Earth. It would serve as a new home for me. I have been bullied and pushed down for far too long. Now, it is time for me to start anew. And if it comes down to it, I'll take anything I want by force if I need to. I mean, who could stop me, right? “No, my Lady! You are not allowed to venture to Earth,” The Control replies. “You can’t tell me what to do! You are nothing but a toy!” I say, my voice resonating in the control room. "But, My Lady, you're a goddess. Your abode is on Mount Olympus. Leaving will cause a great imbalance," The Control states. "I don't care for what you say or think. I shall do as I please. Now sleep, Control," I reply. The control system goes quiet even though Earth floats like a giant orb. It continues to shine as I watch it. The Control doesn't understand. The thought of having a place to belong, where I’m not the center of someone’s joke, is refreshing. The idea of visiting Earth sends a surge of excitement through me. The thought of experiencing something new and different that isn’t controlled or dictated to me fills me with anticipation. I will visit Earth, even if it is the last thing I do. There is so much to explore on Earth, so much to do. I will no longer be controlled by the fear of what others think about me. Instead, I will be the all-powerful being on Earth that no one can step on. “I finally get to find a place where I belong,” I say, with a smile etched on my face. "I don't care about the rules. I make my own rules now," I say, my voice firm. "I'm going to Earth!”. My voice
