Interracial Romance for Adults only. This is a work of fiction, and the romance contains very steamy love scenes that are not for the faint of heart and strong language. The Marriage Bargain Cayla and Dominic’s Story – Enemies to Lovers Cayla despises Dominic and prays for the day that he will screw up and get fired from working at the same law firm as her. It almost happens when he is found in a compromising position with the daughter of an important client. But the partners of the firm save him and decide to give him another chance. Dominic finds Cayla attractive and has wanted her from the moment he saw her, but she double-crossed him and almost helped to get him fired and disbarred from the firm. He now has a chance to keep his job by landing the biggest fish in the US to become a client at their firm. There’s just one catch: this client will only work with a happily married couple. If he wants to pull this off, chronic bachelor Dominic now needs Cayla’s help. But first, he’ll have to promise her something she wants in return. What are two enemies to do when they have to get married and pretend they are in love with each other? Can they pull it off—or will they wind up tearing each other apart? Prologue “I am going to have to let you go.” Alec Peterson, of Peterson & Taylor Associates, stared stoically at Dominic Stockton, who sat across from him in his office on one of the brown leather chairs that matched his desk. He steepled his hands and gazed in disappointment, shaking his salt-and-peppered head. J.P. Taylor, the firm’s other partner, was missing from the meeting, as he was working on a contract for a sale of a property for a client. Alec had informed him about the meeting when he went to sit down in the chair after being ushered in by Alec’s secretary. Dominic opened his mouth to protest, but Alec raised his hand to silence him. “We brought you on as a junior partner here, Dominic, with faith that you would shine in your role and bring in lucrative clients.” Dominic frowned and thought, I did bring in lucrative clients in the past two years that I have been working here. What is he talking about? Alec must have noticed his frown and cleared his throat in embarrassment. “Well, let me clarify. You were our star real estate lawyer last year and this year looked to be the same, despite the uproar you created with our legal assistants—both female and male—fighting over you.” It was Alec’s turn to scowl at Dominic in displeasure. Dominic just shrugged. “Not my fault both sexes find me irresistible.” He joked with a cocky grin, but it was wiped from his face when Alec gave him a stern look and continued, “What happened has given me and Taylor pause, especially since you also know that we have taken several hits recently, with our clients going to other firms. Losing the Klein account is not an option, all because you couldn’t keep your zipper up. This, unfortunately, was the deciding factor for us. We’re going to let you go, Dominic.” “You can’t do that,” Dominic exclaimed in frustration. “I didn’t do anything wrong. I didn’t touch Mr. Klein’s daughter; that viper came on to me! That entitled princess didn’t like hearing no. If Cayla hadn’t walked in when she did, I would have had everything in hand and could have diffused the situation.” “So, you’re saying that you didn’t have young Ms. Klein in your office for a late-night drink and a discussion over her father’s real estate business, instead of taking her home like her father asked you to? What Cayla saw was just her imagination, hmm?” “I’m saying that Klein’s daughter lied about everything, including me taking her to my office for a late-night drink. I forgot some work in the office and swung by on the way to drop her off to get it. She asked to see where I worked instead of sitting in the car waiting and I didn’t see the harm. It was supposed to be a quick trip and not the debacle that ensued. She confessed finally and everything is okay and you know the truth now. I thought that was why you brought me in here and that you’d be happy to know everything’s sorted out—not this, you firing me,” Dominic said furiously as he leaned forward, gripping the arms of the chair firmly. “I am sorry, Dominic. This isn’t an easy decision for us. We are aware she recanted but the damage has been done to your reputation with the firm and Klein says he won’t do business with us as long as you work here. We can’t lose Klein and all his acquisitions and real estate businesses. And if he leaves, the rest of them will too.”
