The first, of course, was blood. The life force of humans teeming in the air, knowing that it would soon be on his tongue, restoring him, rushing through his otherwise dried veins… The scent of it drew his vampiric nature to the surface with a single whiff, making every hair on his body stand up, and his focus to become laser sharp, until he was satiated. The second, however, was not one tied at all to his vampiric nature, but was instead tied to who he was as a man, or at least, whatever was left of the man he had been, so many eons ago. Books. He would never tire of the scent of books. They were a blend of many things, and had changed over the centuries, and yet, his love of them never once faded.
