Where did that come from, she wondered. She walked into the bank trying to figure out why, all of a sudden, she wanted a cigarette. It had been over twenty-five years since she’d lit her last smoke. She smiled to herself as the reason why became clear in her mind. “Can I help you?” Lissa had stopped in front of a woman’s desk that was in an open area of the lobby. The sign in front of her simply read Accounts. “I hope so,” Lissa replied with a pleasant smile. She looked down at the nameplate on the woman’s desk. “Maise, I need to close an account and open a new account.” The woman returned her smile and looked over her shoulder at the offices that formed an L-shape in her area. Lissa figured Maise was the receptionist/assistant/traffic director for this part of the bank. There were only two main sections of the bank and they were separated by the counter where tellers were waiting on customers. In a small town, a bank this size offered customer assistance on one side and the other side usually housed the executives that oversaw operations. It had been so long since Lissa had actually come inside the bank that she began to think she was on the wrong side. “If you’ll have a seat.” Maise indicated the couch and chairs immediately behind her which were arranged into a makeshift waiting area. “All our account managers are helping customers at the moment. I’ll see if I can find someone else to help you.” “Thanks,” Lissa said with another smile. She sat down on the end of the couch and let her gaze wander through the offices. The front wall of each office was glass, so anyone in the bank could see what was happening. Each occupant, whether they were an account specialist or something else, did indeed have a customer sitting across the desk from them. She sat back and let out a deep breath. It wasn’t like she was in a hurry. Her thoughts went back to a few minutes ago. The reason she’d thought about smoking a cigarette was because of her brother. That’s the reason she was here in the first place. A sad smile played at the corners of her mouth and she was surprised when tears began to sting the back of her eyes. “Good morning. How can I help you?” Lissa sat up and quickly blinked before the tears spilled from her eyes. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you,” the woman said. Lissa looked up into warm blue eyes that were full of concern. They belonged to a woman who was obviously younger than Lissa, but she stood with an air of authority about her. “It’s okay.” Lissa quickly rose to her feet. “I’m waiting for assistance. They’re all busy.” She smiled and waved her hand at the offices around them. “I’m not. Come with me,” the woman offered and led them through the lobby, past the tellers and over to the other side of the bank. Her dark brown hair swayed just below her shoulders with each step she took. Lissa fell in step behind her and hurried to keep up. They walked into the president’s office and the woman paused at the chairs in front of the desk. She stuck out her hand and smiled. “I’m Addison Henry. Have a seat.” Lissa took the woman’s hand and felt the same warmth from earlier when she’d looked into her eyes. “I’m Lissa Morgan.” Addison nodded and went around the large desk and sat down. “I can wait for someone else,” Lissa explained. “You’re the president of the bank. I’m sure you have other things to be doing.” Addison smiled. “Every customer is important. What is it you needed help with? Don’t you think the president should be able to handle each job at the bank?” “Hmm,” Lissa mused. “I don’t doubt your abilities, but I’m guessing it’s been a while since you opened a new account.” “Is that why you’re here?” Addison gave Lissa a pleasant look. “I’m here to close an account and open a
