This is a book that I had bouncing around in my mind for a very long time but just didn’t know if I should write it because of the dark places it goes. Writing it was an intense and cathartic experience that helped me let a lot of things go from my past. I am so thankful for Dark Romance and the outlet its given me as not just as a writer but a reader. I’ve grown in so many ways and have this book to thank for it. TW LIST: This is a dark poly romance book featuring two obsessed serial killers and includes scenes of graphic language, graphic violence, kidnapping, coercion, blood and gore, sexual assault, stalking and murder. There are sexually explicit scenes of public masturbation, public sex, edging, forced orgasm, dubcon/noncon situations between MMCs and FMC as well as edging, somnophilia, breath play, light impact play, praise and degradation, and group sexual scenes including all characters. Characters experience emotional manipulation, anxiety, PTSD, bullying and depressive thoughts. It happened quietly. Organically. In the way that hits you before you realize it’s been done. I think it was a sneak attack. Not sure though, since that implies planning. My mom couldn’t fucking plan her way out of the next minute, let alone orchestrate the hold she has on me. It’s funny how a woman that barely graduated high school was able to make me lose myself, she got in my head where I can still hear her harsh words, her cruel voice, and feel her disapproval in the variety of things I failed at. I didn’t know how to sweep. Couldn’t cook for shit. Yard work? Laughable. And don’t even get her started on cleaning. I know it makes me sound lazy, stupid and like a pretty hapless and shitty human, but here’s the thing. When my mom bitched about all of my shortcomings, I was only seven. Yeah, seven. She was the one that was tasked with showing me the basics and I can still remember pressing my nose to the washer door top to read the almost worn off instructions so I could have clean clothes for school the next day. She had no problem buying everything I might need, but if I didn’t know how to use any of it? That was on me. She wanted me to fail. Wanted me to think I wasn’t worth a shit, but you know what? She fucking failed. At least, kind of. I got out. I went to a state school, then transferred to an Ivy League. I studied overseas, played Varsity sports and learned foreign languages. I learned about other cultures and people. I built the empathy skills in me that she refused to feed. I won. Not her. I’ve got friends, which is better than good. They’re the family I chose for myself. But when people share success stories, the life changing stuff, they always talk about sharing it with their family. The only family I had that gave a fuck about me was my grandmother and she’s gone. She died when I was fourteen. I’ve been an orphan
