Reese Epilogue Shattered Legacy Sneak Peek About the Author Also by Caitlyn Dare 1 OLIVIA “Cat got your tongue, beautiful?” Dale Starling smirks over at me as he casually sips his beer. “You need to let me go,” I grit out. “Let you go? But the fun is only just starting.” He spreads his legs wide, brazenly running his hand over his crotch. Disgusting pig. “Come on, D, man. Maybe she’s right, maybe we should—” “Would you quit whining like a little bitch, Manford? We’re just having some fun.” Dale’s friend shoots me an apologetic glance but doesn’t say anything else. Coward. I still can’t believe he kidnapped me and brought me here to some abandoned building on the edge of Huxton. It’s obviously where they come to hang out, since it’s filled with typical bachelor pad things. An old sofa, a makeshift bar, and a slightly wonky pool table. But there’s only the three of us here tonight. “The Heirs won’t—” “Will you stop talking about the fucking Heirs?” he spits. “The Heirs came into our territory and fucked up my car. Seems only fair we fuck up something that belongs to them.” A violent shiver runs down my spine, but I don’t let him see the fear in my eyes. “This is not a good idea,” Manford says, his leg jostling as he perches on the roll arm of one of the mismatched chairs. “Have a drink and loosen the fuck up. I don’t remember you disagreeing when we spotted her leaving the game, ripe for the taking.” A wicked glint flashes in Dale’s eyes. They’d been right there, waiting for the game to finish to no doubt start shit with my brother and the Heirs. But they saw me first. If only I hadn’t fled… I glance at my mobile phone on the coffee table beside Dale. They confiscated it the second they wrestled me into their car, but so far he hasn’t tried to get into it. But if I can get my hands on it, I can text or call Oak. Or the police, since Dale Starling has clearly lost his fucking mind. I get that Reese blew up his car, but kidnapping seems a big step up from vehicle arson. “You want a drink?” Dale asks me. “Unbelievable,” I murmur and his eyes narrow. “What the fuck did you say?” “I said, ‘unbelievable’.” “I was trying to be polite.” “You really are crazier than I thought. You can’t kidnap someone and—” “I think I liked it better when you were quiet,” he snaps. “Manford, get us another beer.” Oh good. He’s going to get drunk before he does whatever it is he brought me here to do. I assume I’m bait. A hostage he’ll taunt my brother and the guys with. “You do know who my father is, right?” I ask. “Like I give a shit.” “You should. Because when he finds out you took me, what do you think he’s going to do?” “You won’t talk,” he says with pure male arrogance. “You sound awfully confident.” “Oh, I am. Because after I’m done with you, you’ll—” “Dude. Not cool,” his friend protests. “I didn’t sign up for this shit.” “If you don’t like it, there’s the fucking door.” Dale tips his head to the only door in or out. “I’m out, D. This is… fucked up.” He storms out, leaving the two of us alone. “Pussy.” Dale scrubs his jaw, draining the rest of his beer. “Although, I’m kind of liking that we’re all alone. Now maybe we can do this the easy way.” “The easy way?” “Yeah.” Slowly, he stands and stalks toward me, sending my heart into a tailspin. He reaches for me, cupping my face as I try to recoil from him. “Get your hands off me.” “Or what? What the fuck are you going to do, Olivia?” My name rolls off his tongue like silk, but it’s edged with venom. “Is your dick really so small you’ve had to resort to kidnapping an innocent girl to get your point across?” Anger flares in his expression as he roughly grips my hair, pain exploding along my skull. Shit, that hurts. “Fucking bitch. You’re going to pay for that.” A dark smile curls at his lips. “Let’s see what an Heir’s sister really tastes like.” His mouth crashes down on mine as I struggle against him. He’s too strong, his tongue plunging past my lips as I thrash, trying to claw at his hands and chest as he falls down on me, forcing me into the sofa cushions. “Get off me, you piece of shit,” I cry when he pulls away for a second. “Don’t you dare touch—” His mouth drowns out my cries as he kisses me again. But this time, I’m ready for him, biting down hard on his tongue. “Fucking bitch.” Blood sprays from his mouth as he backhands me so hard, stars swim in my vision. I blink, trying to focus as he hacks a mouthful of blood onto the floor. “We could have done this the easier way, but I have no problem sending you back to them
