Arms outstretched, she stares at the refurbished mosaic tiles and spins like Julie Andrew’s iconic scene in The Sound of Music. As if he and I had planned it ahead of time, Cheetoh, my orange feral companion appears from out of nowhere. Meowing shamelessly, the tabby swirls between her long legs. “Oh, you cutie.” Squatting, she lowers her hand for him to nose. No food, he abandons her and flops on his side beside me. Paws out, eyes closed, he feigns death. “Dude, you’re not starving. Give it up.” Chuckling, I reach into my pocket and offer him a couple snacks. “You keep this up buddy, and you’re going to get fat.” His Cheshire smile is the only thanks I ever get. Tail up, he prances away into the dark tunnel and when we can no longer see him, I point to the touristy picnic table next to the vending machine. “Want to sit?” “Sure.” With her back to the wall, the woman in black slides on the bench. Performing a simple experiment, I scoot beside her until our thighs touch. Holy fuck. Like it did two weeks ago at the reunion, electricity zaps from her body to mine and lights me on fire. Holding my breath, I wait for her to scootch away, but she doesn’t. This makes perfect sense, if you don’t think too hard about it. You see, she hates me, and this evening is all about revenge sex. Being an above-average nice guy, I strive to make it as easy as possible for her to reach her goal. I needn’t’ve worried. She’s doing fine without my help.
