March Connect with Mazzy! When I came here, only a matter of months ago, I thought I was changing my life for the better. Putting behind me the chaos of living on the streets after my parents’ death and taking a step toward a stable life. Mom and Dad wanted nothing to do with their raven past, but since they were alumni of the Academy of the Ravens, they had to take me. And what other options for higher education did I have? Since arriving, I’ve learned the humans I encountered on the mean streets were not nearly as dangerous as the so-called good-citizen ravens. Mercy has proven to be a traitor. Merrick won’t leave me alone. My mates have gone primal in protecting me, never leaving me alone, not even for one minute. After surviving on the streets, I didn’t think keeping myself safe would be a big deal at the academy. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Survival is my only goal. Oh yeah, and keeping my priceless feathers intact and away from the crows. Sounds easy, right? A Murder is the fourth book in a paranormal reverse harem shifter series featuring a threatened orphaned raven shifter and the three male ravens who all want to be her fated mate. It is a why choose shifter romance with a slow-burn buildup sure to make your toes curl. Relationships develop over the course of this supernatural series and, of course, Mazzy guarantees an HEA…but, this time, maybe not for everyone… Stories by Mazzy J. March Chapter One Gwen “I’m going to throw up,” I moaned, whirling around and burying my face into the first person I could find. It was Nixon, and there was nothing I needed more in that moment than his big, burly arms holding me tight. Nix cleared his throat before speaking. “Guys, what do we do here? We came to the headmistress to talk to her about Mercy and the hunters, and now we’re in a secondary mess.” “We leave. Shut the door and wipe the prints.” It was times like this that gave me hints about Callum and his family. Wiping the prints. This wasn’t my mate’s first murder scene, clearly. “Wait, what? Cal, this isn’t your home country, and we’re not your family,” Rad answered, reading my mind. “Besides, we didn’t do anything wrong. There’s no crime in discovering a crime scene.” Nixon grumbled. “Now we know what we’re not doing and, while that’s good…what the hell do we do now?” He turned up the volume on his voice, reiterating the question I asked when we first saw the scene. I broke away for just a bit. Curiosity won, and I took a second peek. Gods, I could’ve lived the rest of my life without seeing a murder. Not a murder of crows. Well, that, too. TV and movies thought they showed graphic scenes, but that was nothing compared to this. There were splatters everywhere. On her heavy curtains. Splotches pocked her treasured books. There were even a few spots on the ceiling. My stomach turned. “I’m gonna puke.” Nixon grabbed my shoulders and physically turned me away. “She didn’t even have a chance to shift. Maybe it was someone she knew. Look at her face. There’s no surprise. I don’t…” He was right. There were no feathers around. She wasn’t partially shifted. No signs of struggle. Everything was in its place, except her. Even her chair was properly pushed under the desk. Weird. Rad interrupted, “We’re not detectives, Nix. All I’m worried about now is what to do. Do we call the council?” Callum made a grunting sound. “You keep their number in your cell? ’Cause I don’t.”
