There were even a few spots on the ceiling. My stomach turned. “I’m gonna puke.” Nixon grabbed my shoulders and physically turned me away. “She didn’t even have a chance to shift. Maybe it was someone she knew. Look at her face. There’s no surprise. I don’t…” He was right. There were no feathers around. She wasn’t partially shifted. No signs of struggle. Everything was in its place, except her. Even her chair was properly pushed under the desk. Weird. Rad interrupted, “We’re not detectives, Nix. All I’m worried about now is what to do. Do we call the council?” Callum made a grunting sound. “You keep their number in your cell? ’Cause I don’t.”
