Once your parents name you after a superhero’s alter ego, it’s hard not to be. As I’m sure you are all aware, I’m way more alter ego than hero. I’d say ninety-nine percent to one. You’re probably wondering which of the famous superheroes I get my namesake from. Am I Clark Kent to everyone’s favorite Superman? Bruce Wayne to the infamous Batman? Or my personal favorite… Tony Stark to the awesome Iron Man? Sadly, none of the above. “My name is Peter Parker. Yes. Yes. The Amazing Spiderman. What kind of shit is that, right? Dude got his superpowers from being bitten by a dumb spider. He is, without a doubt, my least favorite comic book hero and I’m stuck with him. While I was growing up, I was stuck with Spiderman-themed birthday parties, Halloween costumes, lunch boxes, and book bags. If Spiderman was on it, it was always under the Christmas tree. And that was just what my parents made me suffer through. It was some of you that really knew how to throw a punch Chapter One Assignment DayPeterWe had only just returned to school, but I was already back into the familiar routine. Unlike most teenagers starting their junior year, I enjoyed the humdrum and repetitiveness of each school day. I’m a fan of order. Of routine. Next week my extracurricular activities would start; Math Club every Tuesday and Chess Club every Thursday, and my schedule would be locked. But Saturday was always my favorite day of the week. Which was tomorrow. Why? Because Saturday was Dungeons and Dragons’ Day. Which was the pinnacle of my weekend. What I liked to think of as nerd fun. But I will explain nerd fun later. Right now, we have a few more classes to focus on. I had already figured out the most efficient way to get to my classrooms, when I would have time to exchange books in my locker, and where the safest place was to eat in the cafeteria (this was particularly important as you will come to learn).
