Prologue Archer I sighed as I fell onto the sofa, my head throbbing and my stress levels through the roof. “Did we pull the short straw when they were handing out management teams? Ours are the worst. I’ve just got an email from Steve telling us that they are at their wit's end with us and are going to talk to Addi about finding us someone ‘more suitable’.” I did dramatic air quotes and rolled my eyes just to make sure Fox and Charlie, the other two members of our band, Alchemy Myth, understood my annoyance. “Yeah, I don’t think we’re a good fit at all. Let’s just get through these next few gigs and we can go back and renegotiate our contract with the label. This isn’t working for any of us,” Fox’s voice of reason agreed, barely tearing his gaze from the enormous flat screen he was playing FIFA on. “Well, we’re off tonight, so who wants to get up some mischief? I mean, if Steve is writing us off, he’s not going to care what we get up to, will he? We could do anything,” Charlie pointed out eagerly before scoring a goal that made Fox swear and drop his PS5 controller onto the coffee table. “Yeap, mischief sounds like a plan,” Fox agreed, pushing his fingers through his shoulder-length blond hair that was still damp from his recent shower. “You need to get laid, Arch. You’ve been a miserable bugger lately and we know it’s down to your blue balls. I mean, you’re the only person I know who’s in a band, with a number one single in eight countries, and refuses to make the most of the groupies,” Fox laughed. I flicked him the middle finger, but he was kind of right. I’d not had sex in… well, way too long. It was on offer. Everywhere we went there were women and men throwing themselves at us, but it wasn’t what I wanted. I wanted something more than meaningless sex.
