Epilogue Author's Note About the Author Follow me Also By Miranda May Foreword & Trigger Warnings H ello readers! Welcome to my first omegaverse! I’ve been super psyched to get this written and out for all of you to read. I currently have five planned standalones in this series and at least one novella, if not more. Please be aware that this series is a reverse harem/why choose romance, meaning that our FMC won’t have to choose between her men. There is explicit language and sexual encounters—including group sex. There is also M/M within the harem, so if this isn’t something you read, then turn around now. If you read this story and love it, make sure to review! It’s what gets me the Zon to share my book more! Just a few possible trigger warnings: discussion of mental health issues and past trauma revolving around abuse from family members/past partners. There is a moment that can be considered cheating from one of the suitors, but is followed by a discussion with the FMC. If any of this will be triggering for you, please don’t read this story. Your mental health is what’s important! Happy reading! The Event March 5, 2033 was the day the world ended… At least that’s what the people who woke up that morning thought was happening. It’s the day the sun never rose and the day natural disaster after natural disaster bombarded the Earth. Earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, blizzards, volcanic eruptions—anything one can think of, they ravaged the Earth. Cities destroyed, and billions died. Then came the sound. It started so quietly, no one noticed it over the chaos. Louder and louder, it grew until no one could ignore it. Those still alive collapsed to their knees, hands to their ears, sure their eardrums were going to burst. A blinding, bright white light lit up the sky and then every person fell unconscious. When they awoke, they found a changed world where the sun rose in the west and set in the east. A world where humanity as they knew it changed. Anyone that survived what they dubbed the apocalypse—later named the Event—found themselves biologically changed. It took years of research to discover what had changed, but those living it figured it out quickly. Humans had evolved and now had new designations—alpha, beta, and omega. They learned to live with these new designations as they rebuilt the world they once knew. Nothing would ever be quite the same, but that didn’t mean it couldn’t be better. Chapter One BreeYear: 2258A glance in the mirror has me screwing up my face in disgust. “Remind me why I agreed to do this again?” Tessa’s laugh is loud, filling the room before she steps up behind me. My eyes meet hers in the mirror and she gives me a quick smile.“Because you’re a control freak?”“I am not.” I frown, turning to glare at her.Tessa laughs again. “Yeah, keep telling yourself that lie. I know the truth.”Scrunching up my nose, I don’t reply. It’s not the first time that we’ve had this argument and I’m sure that it won’t be the last. And no matter how many times I argue with her, we both know that she’s right. I am one hundred percent a control freak—which generally works in our favor. Right now? Not so much.Forcing my eyes back onto my reflection, I try to pretend that I’m someone else—anyone else—so that I can be objective.Chestnut brown hair pulled up into a stylish twist that I would never have the patience for. Amber eyes lined in a way that makes them pop and pouty lips painted a bright red. The dress draped across my body matches my lips exactly, as do the shoes that aren’t visible from beneath the hemline. For me, it’s just too damn much, but for Heated? It’s kind of perfect, and that’s what matters.“You look gorgeous, omega,” Tessa says quietly, reaching over to grip my hand in hers.My body relaxes not just at her words, but at her touch, even as my mind continues to race. Such is the way of omegas and alphas, which is why our partnership works so well. We balance one another in a way that two alphas, two betas, or an alpha/beta combination never could.Tessa and I met at college orientation, and the pair of us hit it off immediately—something that our designations shouldn’t have allowed. Tessa had been the first to tell me that my ideas weren’t only good, but that they could change the world. Okay, maybe not change the world, but make it at least a little better.Living as an omega who wanted to do something more with her life other than finding her pack and popping out babies, I was often
