CHAPTER ONE I lick Nick’s cum from Penny’s lips, gripping her cherry-red hair tightly in my fist. “And cut!” I let Penny go and blow a kiss to her before standing up and slipping into the robe my assistant, Kelly, holds out ready for me. He looks over at me briefly to wink before turning back to the rest of the cast. “Thanks. See you later,” I call out to the room at large, hearing a few people shout goodbyes of their own. I’ve been working in porn for ten years now, starting when I was eighteen. At twenty-eight, I feel ancient compared to all the up-and-coming stars. Truth be told, there is not much longevity in porn for most actors. Some—like myself—however, have become porn royalty. It’s a title I’m sure most parents would be rolling in their graves over, mine included. Did I care? Not one little bit. I did what I needed to drag myself out of the wreckage of my life. David, one of my security team members, peels away from the wall to walk in front of us. “Mr. Abbot would like to see you before you leave. Your first interviewee for the new bodyguard position will arrive at The Honey Bee at eight p.m., and you have messages from Julian, Sugar, and Talon Mitchell to call them back,” she reels off. I pause and look at her with a frown. “Did you say Talon Mitchell?” “Yes. He left his number for you. You know him?” “I mean, I fucked him once, but I wouldn’t say I know him,” I joke, even though I’m intrigued. “Oh, I didn’t realize he was an actor too. His name didn’t ring any bells.” Kelly bites her lip. “He’s been out of the business for a while now, from what I’ve heard. Let me think. We shot a film together maybe nine years ago. It was just before I hired you. I was still pretty new, but he was really sweet to me.” I didn’t tell her that he was one of the few actors who managed to make me orgasm. “I heard he retired about five years ago. I can’t imagine what he’d want with me now.” “That I don’t know, I’m afraid.” I watch as David opens the door to my changing room, does a quick sweep before stepping out, and holds the door open for me. “Thanks, David.” “No problem, Miss Evans.” I roll my eyes. He only ever calls me that on set. When he pulls the door closed behind Kelly and me, I waste no time stripping off and walking into the small attached bathroom. I turn on the shower and let it heat up for a second. “Did Mr. Abbott tell you what he wanted?” I call out before stepping under the spray. Kelly pokes her head around the door. “And lower himself to having a conversation with a lowly minion?” She cocks her brow, making me laugh. “Fair enough. Give me ten minutes to make myself human again, and I’ll be right with you.” She smiles softly at me. “No rush. I’ll order some food for you. Any requests?” “Surprise me.” She nods and leaves as I soap up my body and scrub every inch of my skin before washing my hair. I stand under the spray for a few minutes, letting it work out the kinks as I try to shake off the weird feeling that keeps plaguing me lately. I’m not sure what it is exactly—boredom, loneliness perhaps. Whatever it is keeps gnawing away at the edges of my mind. I’m too young to feel so jaded, but then again, age isn’t merely a physical thing.
