All my books are unique to their main characters. They write the story; I'm just along for the ride. They make mistakes that can have you either relate to, like or dislike (possibly even hate) them. They are raw and flawed, but we love them anyway. You’ve met Ethan in The Dark Series. Rezoned is his story. Ethan’s book gives you a glimpse into The Davis Order and can be considered its prequel. You'll be introduced to all the Davis siblings, get to know them, and maybe even get some hints to their individual stories. Rezoned is split into two parts: past (ten years ago) and present. If you have read my previous books, you are familiar with my writing and know that I thrive on the small details. Rezoned was meant to be a novella, but it quickly turned into a full-length novel. However, I decided to cut some of the "filler scenes," as I call them, and if you notice jumps in the story, that is why. All the mentioned regions, sites, and locations you encounter in this book are made up to fit the story. It is not necessary to read The Dark Series before Rezoned. Rezoned is intended for MATURE (18+) readers. It is a dark, (love-to-) hate-to-love, second-chance novel and features strong language, violence, explicit sexual scenes, and situations that may be considered TRIGGERS for some. Reader discretion is advised. (For a more detailed list of potential triggers and tropes in this book, click here.) For all the phoenixes whose wings were clipped—broken. Who burned and yet rose from the ashes stronger than before. Don't let anything (or anyone) ever hold you back. It makes my chest constrict as much as my (in her presence, permanently coiled) muscles relax. I care for Jenn, love her—on a nonromantic, platonic level. Out of the four Davis siblings, she's the only one I remained in touch with. However, over the years, we drifted apart. Our lives don't blend well. I work security for the Altman Hotel empire, and she is The Cleaner for one of the biggest organized crime families in the western hemisphere. A family I used to be part of—not that I ever asked for it. Did I want to be out of the foster system? Of course. What five-year-old wouldn't want to belong somewhere? But at what cost? A price I didn't understand until it was too late. "Can I talk to you for a minute?" My eyes flick to Jenn, and a sour taste forms on my tongue. As good as she is in her profession, she doesn't possess the mask our brothers wear, which is why she is The Cleaner, and the guys execute the jobs. She is about to deliver the news I never wanted to get. My pulse thrashes in my veins as I follow her to the driver's side of her Bugatti. She studies me, and with every passing second, I fight the urge to latch on to her arms and shake her. I don't want to hear what she has to say, but I don't have a choice. "He found her." Her tone is level. While she visually can't hide shit, she is a professional in her area of expertise. The groove between her brows contradicts her voice. The sorrow and fear for me are etched across every inch, but no one would know just by hearing her speak. "How?" I choke on the question. "By sheer coincidence." She peers over to where my employer and her friends stand but continues her recap. "Cor called just before we got here. He overheard Marshall on the phone with Tony. He was on assignment in Maine and stopped at a diner on the drive back." My fingers flex and curl as I listen. "Don't tell me she works at a diner." Why would she do that? A vision of her red hair behind the counter flashes in front of my mind's eye. "Not work.
