This is war. Adonis Let me know if you need help hiding a body. Atticus Good to know you have my back. Adonis Anything for my big brother. Indigo Simons chose a side, and it wasn’t mine. For that, she has to pay. I don’t care if my behavior is childish or that my actions might be a tad bit inappropriate. She should have thought about that before she decided doing her fucking job was beneath her. I guess that’s what happens when the boss hires his daughter to be my assistant and doesn’t give me a choice in the matter. I need an assistant who’s competent and capable. One who knows how to use the meeting scheduler in Outlook, can take good notes, and has no problem working a copy machine. Hell, if Indie would at least write my appointments in a day planner, I’d be semi-pleased. But even that seems to be too much effort for her to put into her job. I suspect she can do it. She just doesn’t want to. Her apathy toward her job and her dad’s company is infuriating. I don’t understand why she’s even here. The fact that she hates me doesn’t help either. She didn’t even give me a chance. From day one, she’s treated me with contempt and has blatantly disregarded all my attempts to create a pleasant work environment between us. It’s as if she’s out to ruin my career, and I don’t know why. I’ve put up with it for far too long. I’m done playing nice. Yesterday’s debacle was the last straw. I had an important meeting to which the client arrived three hours early. When I asked Indie about the misunderstanding, she simply smiled and said oops. Fucking oops. She deliberately told the client the wrong time. Which meant I wasn’t prepared. I was still in the copy room, making my own damn copies of the report, because Indie can’t be bothered to figure out how to use the damn machine. Her sabotage made me look unprepared and disorganized, not only to the client but in front of my boss—her father, and the CEO and owner of SimTech Development. I’m probably the most organized person in this entire fucking building. So, yeah. It’s war. She may be the boss’s daughter and the heiress to his multi-million-dollar company, but that doesn’t mean I have to accept her sabotage. It’s a little before seven in the morning when I stroll into my office building and hit the call button for an elevator. SimTech shares a building with several other businesses in which we occupy the top three floors, forty-two through forty-four. My office is on the forty-third floor, but I’m working my ass off to earn one of the executive offices on forty-four. Which is why it would help if my assistant gave a shit about her job. Most of the employees on my floor don’t arrive until closer to nine—Indie included—but I like to get an early start. More like I need to get an early start. It typically takes me about an hour to figure
