I’d be more worried if he didn’t have a giant smile plastered on his face. “Come on, hurry up!” He practically laughs the words out as I struggle to keep up. “What’s the rush?” Classes started a few days ago, so I don’t really have any studying to do yet. But for some reason, Lochlyn has been insistent that we go to the library today. Once we get to the door, he loops an arm around my waist and tugs me against him. I fall into his hard chest, and a tingle travels through my body, settling in my clit. Even after three years, I still can’t get enough of him. Cupping my cheek, he slowly draws my mouth to his. “I love you, Shay.” I don’t even get a chance to tell him I love him too before he’s off again, tugging me behind him. Once we’re in the library, he pulls me to the center of the main room, the spot where if you look around, it’s just rows and rows and levels of books. My absolute favorite place. And every time, I have to stop admire the wonderment of the room. When I focus back on Lochlyn, he’s down on one knee, holding out a black ring box. My heart stutters, a hand flying to my chest before covering my mouth with shaky fingers. “Shay, you are the most amazing woman I have ever met in my life. I’ve loved you for years, before we even got together; I’m fairly certain. It’s always been you. I want it to be you for the rest of our lives. Please, will you marry me?” Everybody around us is oohing and aahing. It’s probably not often they see a proposal in the library. But I can barely focus on them, my gaze trained on Lochlyn. We’re still young. “Say yes, sweetie!” somebody screams. I want to be with him forever, but is it too soon?Another voice rings out with, “Say no and marry me instead,” which earns a snort from me as Lochlyn tenses, but keeps holding my gaze. Slowly, I nod, as tears well in my eyes. How could I say anything but yes after all? Carefully, Lochlyn slips the most stunning diamond ring onto my finger, then stands and yanks me against him. He cups my face with both hands and connects our mouths. Part of me wishes he did this elsewhere, like his apartment, so I could really show him how much of a yes it is and how much I love him. But this will have to do. He throws his arm over my shoulders and pulls me toward the exit, knowing I have no other business being here. “Why the library?” I lean into his side and fiddle with my ring as it catches the light and glints in a million directions. It’s a gorgeous, large, round center diamond with smaller stones around the band. “I wanted to ask you in your favorite place in the world.” I look up at him and smile as I throw my arms around his waist. “Being with you is my favorite place in the world.” “Okay, well, your second favorite.” He stops walking, tipping my chin up with his fingers and leaning down to brush his lips over mine.
