ENEMY WITH BENEFITS: ENEMIES TO LOVERS OFFICE ROMANCE ENEMY WITH BENEFITSBLURBMy dream job is at stake only because of the one single night I spent at the bar lusting over this mysterious charming man. I just wanted to have a little pleasure, but I had no idea I was going to get into trouble the very next day. When I take on a competitive internship, the last person I expect to be competing against is Zach.He was meant to be nothing more than a fling to help me forget my cheating ex, but now, we’re working together – and his cocky attitude and over-confidence have made it hard to handle being around him.I can tell he is very competitive, and likes to win. Day by day he is making it tough for me.But we find a sexy way to blow off our tension and keep our focus on work. I know I am not going to let it turn into anything more.Yeah, he’s attractive, but I’ve worked too hard to get where I am to let him distract me from what I know I need to do to turn this internship into a full-time position at a prestigious company. But it doesn’t take long for lines to start blurring, and before I know it, I’m developing feelings for the man I am meant to be competing against. Is this just a game to him? Could it be more?Zach, a confirmed bachelor with a history of playing around, isn’t exactly the ideal candidate to make things serious with.Is this real? Or am I setting myself up to get hurt and lose my dream job in the process? As my feelings deepen, I know it’s not going to be so simple to keep the line between love and lust from blurring.I mean, how stupid can I be? There’s only one person in the world I am in direct competition with when it comes to my career, and I have fallen in love with him.So here I am – ready break my heart once again…*** Chapter OneCassie I stand there, drink in hand, surveying the dance floor in front of me, and wonder why on Earth I let Kimmy convince me to come out tonight. It’s the first day of my new job tomorrow, for goodness’ sake – there's no way I should be out drinking and partying when I need to be up bright and early at eight tomorrow. But I know better than to argue with Kimmy when she’s got that look in her eye."Come on, it’s the last chance you have to blow off some steam before you start your new job!” she exclaimed to me, back at our apartment."Yeah, which means I should be getting some rest," I shot back. She rolled her eyes at me playfully."No, it means you need to come out with me and have some fun," she replied, and she tossed one of her shortest dresses in my direction. "Put this on. You’re going to look killer."The club is full of people, most of them grinding up against each other as they dance to the throbbing beat pouring from the speakers, and I feel like a damn wallflower. I’ve never been good in places like this; I just don’t get the appeal of hanging out at a club where you can’t even hear anyone talk, but I figure most of the people here tonight aren’t exactly out for good conversation.Kimmy is dancing with a guy she just met, her arms wrapped around him as she sways back and forth against him. We’ve known each other since college, and we moved in to a place together when we graduated – sometimes, I wonder how we’ve stayed friends, given how different we are, but I know underneath the party-girl exterior, she’s a total sweetheart. Just because she’s more focused on having fun than getting her career going like me doesn’t mean we have nothing in common.I bob my head along to the music and try not to stare at the couples who can’t keep their hands off each other in front of me. The last thing I need right now is a reminder of how utterly single I am.And how newly single, too. It’s only been a few weeks since I found out my now-ex, Ian, was cheating on me with one of the girls at his work. I can still remember the shock and horror that hit me when I saw her picture pop up on his phone – it wouldn’t have been so bad, but she was downright near naked, clearly in the middle of sexting him, and he didn’t even try to hide it from me.In the blowout that followed, he accused me of being too interested in my work, not showing enough attention to him, and it took literally everything I had in me not to toss his phone squarely at the wall opposite us. He had always told me he loved how ambitious I was,
