To the late bloomers, may you find your pack. Whatever that looks like, whoever they may be. Author’s Notes Omegaverse Welcome to the non-shifting Omegaverse. Folks in the Omegaverse have secondary gender designations: alpha, beta, omega. This universe includes fated mates through scent matches. Alphas can be any sex, and generally are considered more dominant in nature. They experience rut and can turn feral. Female alphas have locks while males have knots. Betas are like humans today. Omegas, also any sex, go into heat and can become pregnant. Heats occur on a cycle, starting at the age of maturity or twenty-one. They cause omegas to go into a kind of frenzy that begins with nesting and focuses on mating. This pushes alphas into a rut, creating the physical conditions necessary to sustain an omega’s heat sexually. Trigger Warnings Here is what you won’t find in this book: pregnancy, self-harm/suicide, incest, substance abuse, non-con or dubcon, sexual assault, abortion, murder. This book contains explicit sexual situations and language, suitable only for those 18+. Polyamory, BDSM/Kink, spankings, claiming/biting, knotting, stretching and stuffing, anal penetration, double penetration, verbal abuse (not from pack), PTSD, forced outing (occurs to the pack off page, but the characters discuss and are impacted by homophobic realities), and fatphobia (restricted food/body shaming by MC’s mother). Other Man drama is presented as a forced choice by MC’s family; no cheating. Take care of yourself. Contents 1. Sadie 2. Sadie 3. Logan 4. Sadie 5. Sadie 6. Logan 7. Sadie 8. Elliot 9. Sadie 10. Sadie Epilogue: Sadie Acknowledgments About Sirena Upcoming Release Chapter 1 Sadie The tulle of my skirt smarts like firecrackers across the backs of my knees and thighs, making a crackling sound every time I move. The lower boning of the corset of my dress digs into my stomach; it’s so freaking tight it’s wearing welts into my skin. The urge to scratch overwhelms me. Is it hot, or is it just me? Oh, right, that’d be me. Just an omega on the verge of twenty-one. Apparently, that makes me a hormonal yo-yo. My face flushes, little pearls of sweat hovering above my lip. I’m an absolute catch. The thought makes me want to snort, but I stop myself by pinching my nose. I accidentally run my finger through my lipstick in the process. Shit. Now I have lipstick everywhere. I rub my fingers together to get it off, but the gloss has become a tacky shellac. My sigh puffs my cheeks, a huff escaping. My mother leans in to whisper in my father’s ear. He turns his head toward hers, his salt-and-pepper hair catching on the light seeping in through the car windows. They look at me from across the limo, perfect statues of beauty and grace. With his tailored tux and his clean-shaven face, my father looks distinguished in his fifties rather than haggard. His silver bow tie flawlessly matches my mother's silver gown. Because of course it does. Still whispering to my father, she eyes me. At forty-three, my mother looks more like my sister than anything else. She has to in order to pull off the backless gown she’s wearing with her dramatic red lips and her pale strawberry-blond hair pulled back into an impeccable chignon. Right now, their facial expressions are blank even as their eyes bore into mine. Almost no emotion shows on their faces, but I know what to look for. It’s the tightening of the skin around my father’s eyes and the set of my mother’s mouth, slightly turned down. Despite their blank faces they let the spicy pepper scent of their disappointment permeate the limo, making the air between us dense. My eyes close and I lean my head ever so slightly on the headrest. Gods forbid it flatten my hair. Better get used to disappointment, Sadie, because this is your life. A life of endless parties and finger foods you’re not supposed to eat. A life of too-tight bodices and daily schedules. A life at the command of alphas and serving a pack to fulfill my duty as the omega of my family. A life that itches. They used to say omegas were dangerous. Too emotional. Too needy. Too fragile. Too tempting. They still say we need protecting, that we aren’t stable on our own. A couple of decades or so ago, most people lived in packs. Alphas. Betas. Omegas. All together. Now, something like forty-six percent of unions are single pairs aided by the help of pharmaceuticals. It’s become fashionable to show that you can manage your biological destiny. In the last five years, the number of omegas using suppressants has doubled. The number of alphas using blockers is as high. Out of the top five pharmaceutical companies in the country, four of them are in biotech. My father, Brock Lancaster, CEO of LanCorp, made his fortune by becoming one of them. He’s an alpha who married a beta. He intended to secure his legacy with an alpha heir. Instead, he got me, an omega daughter. His only child, who he intends to give away to his most desirable political match. Pack or single alpha, I don’t think my father cares who I end up with, so long as the match suits his
