It also contains urban elements, which is why it is listed as a genre category for this book. This is book thirteen of a new family of books… The Berotte Family (pronounced Bee-Rot). It starts with the father, and the following books trickle down to the kids and their friends. So if some things seem incomplete where the sub characters are involved, that was done intentionally. Those issues will be resolved in later books. This book is about Ali, Jericho, and Seneca’s friend, Milton ‘Jungle’ Patterson. You first became acquainted with him in book six, I Want You Here. He works with the Watchful Eyes crew from time to time. It’s highly recommended that you read the previous books of this family series before indulging in this one, because it typically picks up right where the last one left off and updates ongoing issues that I don’t go into great detail about. This is where his character originated. Although it’s from his sister’s point of view, you will get pertinent information about his background as the events happened. Also, please remember that your reality isn’t everyone’s reality. What may seem unrealistic or unrelatable to you could be very real and relatable to someone else. But also, keep in mind that despite the previous statement, this is a fictional story. Jungle and Chelsea’s story doesn’t seem to have any dull moments, but it does have an HEA, thank God. LOL! So brace yourselves. Again, issues from previous stories are resolved and/or updated, and new issues have surfaced. So I hope you enjoy the ride this story is going to take you on. Monica P.S.- Chelsea and her family are Haitian, so there is some Haitian Creole throughout the book. I did my best to interpret everything so you won’t be lost. HOUSTON, TEXAS DIALECT There are some words and phrases that are specific to Houston, Texas. This is where Jungle is from, and the nigga is so Houston it’s ridiculous. I wanted to key you in on certain phrases that may be confusing for those who aren’t from the area or familiar with the dialect. Throwed in the game: fucked all the way up and acting a fool Lean: a drink using codeine, Sprite, and Jolly Ranchers (Also known as syrup or purple drank) Showin’ naked ass: standing out. This can have positive or negative connotations. Draped up and dripped out: looking fly and driving a car with custom paint (candy paint) Flossin’: showing off Plexing: worried AF; ’bout to lose your temper Buck: when a car has leather and wood Dine/Tine: down/town. This is only spelled this way so you’ll know how it’s being pronounced. Slab/SLAB: car that sits low and is typically fully customized (slow, loud, and bangin’); it’s usually an older model car as well (ex. Cadillac, Buick, Lincoln, etc.) Swangas: Elbow rims for a car Trill: true and real On one: amped up or ready to f something up; doing too much I tried to give context clues about some of the phrases, PROLOGUE JUNGLE “You see her, man?” I asked Vegas. “Naw. Let me see her picture again to be sure.” I passed my phone to Vegas as we walked around the terminal, looking for Jenetta. Jericho had called, saying that he was putting his sister on a flight and that it should land at six. It was damn near six thirty, and she was nowhere to be found. It wasn’t like she had luggage, and the flight had landed twenty minutes ago. He’d sent an itinerary and given me her phone number, so when I sent her pictures of Vegas and me, she sent a picture of herself. She was a beautiful woman with golden brown skin and auburn, orangey-colored hair. It had grown out some, so her roots were black. She didn’t look a thing like Jericho. I would have never guessed she was his sister had she not sent a picture. As Vegas gave my phone back to me, I sent her a text. Jenetta, we’re looking for you. Are you here?
