Flashing lights, adoring fans, and endless paparazzi - Julia Evans, a former child star turned screen icon, has experienced it all a little too well. After years in the spotlight, Julia is tired of fame and torn between the pull of her audience's adoration and a desire for a quieter life. But first, she must get through her latest movie shoot co-starring with Nico, a beautiful but overly eager hothead wannabe. Nico has always dreamed of stardom, and now it's finally within reach with a big break co-starring alongside Julia. Unfortunately, Julia is just as irritating as she is gorgeous, and spending more time with her is the last thing Nico wants. But when a chance to catapult her star into the stratosphere presents itself, Nico can't say no. Even if it means pretending to be in a relationship with her magnificent nemesis. Their fake publicity plot soon turns into a very real web of lies and passion. But when their fiery romance is revealed as false, can they weather the storm that could sink their careers? Will their love survive, or will they go down before they ever have a chance to figure out what they really want? Julia and Nico's story is the second in the "Bonds and Assets" captivating and steamy FF romance series by Sienna Harper and Alexa Woods. Chapter 1The script lying in front of Julia as she sat down at the table had ‘Julia Evans: Mrs. Montgomery’ emblazoned on the front page in a large, black font, right below the movie’s title, Edge of The Sea. Another script was placed on the table adjacent to Julia’s seat waiting for the actress—playing Rebecca Montgomery, the lead role. That was the character Julia had auditioned for, and had fully expected to be cast as. She flipped the script in front of her upside down in one smooth motion, glancing around to make sure no one had caught her. Julia didn’t want to stare at the name of the main character’s mother any longer than she had to. A PA brought her the chai latte she’d requested on entering the room and Julia thanked him with a smile, trying to shake off the spike of envy that had gripped her stomach. At thirty-nine, her manager and PR team had said she needed to get used to playing a different kind of character, stepping back out of the limelight and the role of the main heroine that she’d taken for most of her career. By different a kind of character she was envisioning meatier roles, something that could show her range—not playing a damn mother, for crying out loud. The chai was bitter on her tongue, not enough milk to smooth out its tannic qualities. She swallowed it anyway, watching as the director’s assistant bent down to whisper something into his ear. She peeked at her phone screen—10:02 a.m. They were supposed to start at ten. The conference room was all prepared, shades drawn, scripts distributed, crew members milling about and actors seated in front of their parts. All they were missing was the main character to get started. “I wonder if the paps caught her coming in?” she heard someone say behind her. “They were sneaking around the gates when I got here.” Julia snorted. Getting caught by the tabloids on your way to work was a rookie move. Contrary to popular belief, most serious actors and actresses weren’t late for everything—anything vital to getting the movie up and running was important, and goodwill with the people working around you essential when you were starting out. Julia Evans had a large enough brand recognition that she could have shown up at twelve, and still had people apologize to her for the trouble, but she had never heard of the name written on the script next to ‘Rebecca Montgomery’. Nicolette Robinson. No doubt some young woman just starting out with her first major movie role. The kind of girl who thought she didn’t need to follow the rules now she had the role. The kind of girl who thought you could become famous just by appearing on the movie poster. She’d worked with plenty of them in her three and a half decades of being in Hollywood. Julia had been thrust into the limelight by parents who believed whole-heartedly that their little girl was destined to be a star, and who’d been proven right over the course of Julia’s entire lifetime. Meeting the gaze of the actor sitting opposite, Julia rolled her eyes as she glanced away from the empty seat next to her. Drew McKenna gave her a smile and a barely perceptible nod. They’d worked on enough movies together for him to be able to read her moods. She tried not to be bitter about the fact that he’d been cast as the leading man, a hard-working fisherman who owned the
